Perhaps this is not true.

Is this mischief, ignorance of the order of administrative protocol or what? How can the office of the AGF (a govt dept) pass govt directive to its affiliate govt officers (Vice Chancellors) through a civil, non governmental body (Committee of Vice Chancellors) and not through the Universities' regulatory agency (the NUC)? The content of the directive is not only ridiculous but highly provocative.

For all lecturers in federal universities to travel to Abuja and physically present themselves to OAGF for the purpose of biometric capturing? What an insult and degradation of the dignity of labour! Meanwhile, the biometric capturing machine could be hand carried to each institution.

Asking us to come to Abuja, is a serious attempt to disgrace us, humiliate us, to completely demean us, and spat our faces on the floor, let alone the risks of accidents and kidnapping on the roads. It is even a serious disgrace of our Vice-Chancellors and Committee of Vice-Chancellors to allow this to happen.

Recommendations:
1. Beyond unionism, I think a group of Professors should be selected from the public Universities to meet and discuss with Mr President of the FRN and mediate on the prevailing issues.

2. ASUU should adequately brief the group of Professors on the details of the issues at stake for the discussion with Mr President.

3. Alternatively, the congresses of local branches need to meet urgently on strategies to source funds to sustain lecturers while the strike continues or to discontinue the strike if we feel the struggle is no longer worth it!

Sequel to the stand of Academic Staff Union of Univerisites on not enrolling her members on the intergrated personnel pay role system, the office of the accountant general of the federation has directed all university vice chancellors as well as busars not to pay any erring lectures starting from next month. Lack of government commitment to implement the MOU signed with ASUU among the current issues of the new pay role system is the cause of the long battle between the two giant elephants struggling for dominance at the expense of the grass which are the Nigeiran Univeristy students who are bearing the heat. ASUP has also issued a fresh warning of indefinite strike on the same IPPIS sage in addition to NASU who are currently on strike too, no thanks to the controversial Pay role system. As things are taking shape all over the world after an unusual lock down due to Covid 19, Nigeria students and education have no hope in view as Aluta continues, if victory will be certain or not, the side of the winner is what we don't know, the government or the ASUU. Which ever way, it is a lose lose matter for Nigeira students who have no way to compensate for their lost time.

Do you realize that almost all the tertiary institutions' unions are on strike or have shown intention to go on strike because of this IPPIS?
The only difference between ASUU and others is just that others are already on IPPIS, while ASUU simply refused to join the IPPIS from the word go.
Something is definitely wrong with the IPPIS!
Whichever way it goes, it is the very poor youths of Nigeria, that is being haunted down by SARS, that will still be denied quality education!

To me , ASUU should hide their heads in shame because this pandemic shows they are rusty and thieves. Mention just one thing that they produced to fight the pandemic like other countries? And don't tell me hand sanitizer because theirs was a case similar local production of liquid soap that can never be exported, even those in commercial educational level could not even hold a conference on post covid policy to help Nigeria. Now covid19 infection claim is outdated thanks to private institutions, they have finally open up that they can't resume without salaries. They could have strike on a better scenario changing date because of the covid19 saga but no they are outdated in classes and even to themselves, pattern of the 1900s they are still using it now.

aaaah, how do we explain this to this guy now?
I hope you know the meaning of contract job?
Academic is not like other jobs. Albert Einstein, for instance, knows something and practically he is the only best expert in that area, then he could be employed after retiring to still teach or even just be doing research in that area in the name of a University! He will be on contract with one or more Universities till he dies!

The way you are abusing and attacking ASUU members is the way those at AGF IPPIS office would be treating them. How are universities in other parts of the world run? How are people that have given their all to contribute to knowledge treated? Even retired Profs who are strong are brought in to contribute their knowledge for their country's nation building.
As for the recruitment of people; don't blame ASUU but ask the university VC and other admins who are majorly appointed by FG.

Darty Emmanuel,a lecturer at the University of Uyo wrote the following and I agree with him:

MY OPINION ON THE ASUU/FGN ISSUE

Mr President says get on the IPPIS platform or get nothing and for me, Mr President is right. ASUU should restrategize and get her priorities right. They can't be fighting for students, fighting for parents and fighting for themselves at the same time. The IPPIS is intended to check the excesses of Nigerian lecturers who work in 2 to 4 universities. I am a lecturer working in just one university so tell me, why should I be afraid of IPPIS?
FG wants to increase school fees, ASUU will go on strike to fight it. Why not allow them increase the school fees and let students from all over the country protest? The matter would just solve itself given its tendency to escalate into full blown violence. Given the recent happenings in the country, the probability of such protests relapsing into full scale violence is 100% and government would not want that. If you ask me, FG is even more afraid of students than lecturers.

If FG says work in only one university, then let all adjunct, contract and sabbatical lecturers withdraw their services and go to their domiciliary institutions. That way, the unclothedness of the many new universities the FGN has created without adequate lecturers will be exposed. The FG will either hire new hands urgently or the universities will be shut down. That matter too can resolve itself.

ASUU should stop agitating for better hostels for students. Students pay money for these services to the FG and they have a stronger ground to demand for what they paid for, not lecturers. ASUU keeps fighting for what they call "revitalization funds" (I don't know what that means if you ask me). My question is, does ASUU have any active supervision over how such monies are to be expended by Governing councils of universities or Vice chancellors, bursars and other big men in the university management? Will they sit at table when juicy contracts flowing from such funds will be given? The answer is No. So why do you decide to go hungry, your salaries withheld, subjecting your self and dependants to hardship over monies that will be expended without your inputs or any form of supervision whatsoever? Meanwhile those that will receive the alert when this money lands are still receiving their salaries. This whole drama doesn't make sense to me. ASUU should trim it's demands to member's welfare and stop carrying a scary baggage of demands around. It is a trade union for God's sake. Let's put away this hypocritical toga of altruism. Everybody's problem cannot be your problem unless you want to die before your time.

On the contrary, primary and secondary education are still heavily subsidized. The issue is that the standard of these public primary and secondary schools have dropped significantly which has led to the reduction in the number of students it attracts.

So, if you want quality education (or the semblance of it) in the primary and secondary school level, private owned schools will be your destination.

Let FG take their hands off tertiary education completely. Several medical doctors and engineers whose education was heavily subsidized now practice in several European countries and America.
