Nothing surprises me anymore about this government that derives joy in inconvenienting their people. That was how they were planning to push us all to bank for another so called enrolment even after BVN.

The lecturers shouldn't worry, they will still come back to clarify or debunk this news.

sinkhole:
Do you realize that almost all the tertiary institutions' unions are on strike or have shown intention to go on strike because of this IPPIS?
The only difference between ASUU and others is just that others are already on IPPIS, while ASUU simply refused to join the IPPIS from the word go.
Something is definitely wrong with the IPPIS!
Whichever way it goes, it is the very poor youths of Nigeria, that is being haunted down by SARS, that will still be denied quality education!
ASUU are lucky I am not Buhari. By now, they will be begging me to let them go back to their jobs.

Or this criminal group of advance yahoo yahoo men wanting to hold public university education ransom....why is kano state universities on strike why is delta state universities on strike did the state govt tell them to join ippis .....50 percent of the entire budgets for education is paid to 71000. Asu members ......it time to ban this cult group of state scammers .....we cant have a parallel govt within Nigeria.......they are free to resign from the jobs

I was thinking and lamenting about the constant strike before I now time to run background research on the case at hand btw fg and ASUU and I deduce that fg were not sincere in this matter because hw will you sign an agreement with a union and subsequently fail to honor the agreement...it's called breach of contract.

secondly, you brought up an idea of ipps 11yrs ago (2009) to be implemented to all MDAs, which is good idea but then some MDAs complained about some discrepancies in ipps that might not suit their payment platform, because ipps platform is just like a Excel data sheet format in which EVERY ALLOWANCE paid to every workers is present there but it was seen that some organization allowance peculiarities were not included in the platform..Now I believe that fg Should have confirmed ,amend, add and correct the necessary abnormalities in the platform but they failed to do necessary adjustment SIMPLY because the software was built by word bank with billions of naira and for them to adjust anything on the platform, they need to contact world bank and pay another huge billions for the correction, the reason is that the BACKEND OR IPPIS DATA BASE IS NOT IN NIGERIA (lol).. very pathetic

thirdly.. from my careful investigation..I came to understand that lecturers salaries were consolidated.. ie their salary comprises of basic salary and peculiar allowance.. now this is where there is confusion, lecturers re claiming that TAX should be deducted from there basic salary but ippis is deducting taxes on both there basic and allowance.

Also lecturers claim that there promotion is not stationary..ie lecturers promotion are not base on hw many yrs u re in the institution but it depends solemly on the more certificate u aquire ( msc ,PhD, ) and also quality journal published..now after you ve gotten the necessary documents and qualifications due for promotion, you will be appraised by you Dept, faculty n finally school Senate before u will be promoted.this can happen at any month of the year, but ippis mode of promotion is stationary, Ie, promotion is sessional , maybe two times or once every yr, if u miss that particular month or period, you wait till next year even when you're qualified for promotion.

Another stuff I also discovered is that ippis office is only situated at Abuja, any complaint by lecturer,eg unilag base on mistake or error in payment will require the person to travel from Lagos to Abuja, lodge in a hotel for days until the person is attended to Compared to there formal method of operandi in which lecturers can simply go there burser for any complaint and it will be attended to at no risk andexpense to the lecturers...

Now on ASUU part,
this consistent strike should stop...you people should find another way of getting fg attention and not only strike because we the students re seriously SUFFERING and are always at the loosing end in this fight..
pls and pls consider the plight of our youth In this country wasting away cos of the brutal and yeye fight btw yourselves and fg

Solution
My own simple take is we Nigerian do not know who is deceiving who,
I will prefer that a neutral body such as NLC, NANS, MEDIA , SUPREME COURT, should be present any time negotiation btw fg and ASUU would be done, so as for us to know who to hold responsible subsequently.. rather than judging base on mere assumption.

Our so called lecturers are only greedy of there belly on the basis of this IPPIS of a thing, the system they have been using before was organized by them, it cover there frauds.

Do you realize some of our lecturers aren't lecturing in a single institution, some are lecturing in polytechnics at the same time a lecturer in university and they being paid at both places, the work that supposed to be given to unemployed vibrant youths.

I remembered vividly then one of my lecturer would come only on Friday to teach us in poly. Whereas, he has spent the whole week in another university.

Those are some of the lapses this IPPIS is about to fix but they are aware of their loss.

I understand your point..but let us analysis the issue critically.
Fg said ippis will cub corruption. (Which is good)
ASUU fear about ippis has been emphasized above..
Now my question is that since fg can't provide answers to ASUU fear about ippis,. Can't dey deploy other means, like using BVN to pay salaries..
Let fg forget ippis and deploy bvn, if ASUU now reject bvn, then we would know who to blame.

Perhaps this is not true.

Is this mischief, ignorance of the order of administrative protocol or what? How can the office of the AGF (a govt dept) pass govt directive to its affiliate govt officers (Vice Chancellors) through a civil, non governmental body (Committee of Vice Chancellors) and not through the Universities' regulatory agency (the NUC)? The content of the directive is not only ridiculous but highly provocative.

For all lecturers in federal universities to travel to Abuja and physically present themselves to OAGF for the purpose of biometric capturing? What an insult and degradation of the dignity of labour! Meanwhile, the biometric capturing machine could be hand carried to each institution.

Asking us to come to Abuja, is a serious attempt to disgrace us, humiliate us, to completely demean us, and spat our faces on the floor, let alone the risks of accidents and kidnapping on the roads. It is even a serious disgrace of our Vice-Chancellors and Committee of Vice-Chancellors to allow this to happen.

Recommendations:
1. Beyond unionism, I think a group of Professors should be selected from the public Universities to meet and discuss with Mr President of the FRN and mediate on the prevailing issues.

2. ASUU should adequately brief the group of Professors on the details of the issues at stake for the discussion with Mr President.

3. Alternatively, the congresses of local branches need to meet urgently on strategies to source funds to sustain lecturers while the strike continues or to discontinue the strike if we feel the struggle is no longer worth it!

Nothing like ego my brother,
What make you think FG has not pull the trigger of sacking all lecturers?..have u thought of that?
Simply because our govt signed a legally valid agreement with a union bound and legal by law and they refused to fulfil those promise..
My brother, fg know what they're doing.. forget those people

To me , ASUU should hide their heads in shame because this pandemic shows they are rusty and thieves. Mention just one thing that they produced to fight the pandemic like other countries? And don't tell me hand sanitizer because theirs was a case similar local production of liquid soap that can never be exported, even those in commercial educational level could not even hold a conference on post covid policy to help Nigeria. Now covid19 infection claim is outdated thanks to private institutions, they have finally open up that they can't resume without salaries. They could have strike on a better scenario changing date because of the covid19 saga but no they are outdated in classes and even to themselves, pattern of the 1900s they are still using it now.
in which country did their University produced something to help fight covid29 and what did they produced?

A Professor and Geologist has this to say as a comment about FG-ASUU saga___

Even in ASUU, this is the worst leadership I have seen in 25years in the university. Both government and ASUU are not sincere on university education in Nigeria. I have not seen any intellectualism in the attitude of both government and ASUU. I will touch little things that doesn't make sense; why is ASUU on strike now? It is because of IPPIS and after losing out on that they shifted the goalpost to "revitalization of universities" which is very unrealistic. Why would a sensible person declare strike during coronavirus global confusion? Where is the much acclaimed knowledge? This strike was never voted for at individual branches as usual but truncated by the ASUU NEC. It never happened this way before. The IPPIS unveiled an unbelievable number of ghost workers in the university payroll whole the former gifmis payroll that ASUU preferred accommodated all those ghost workers. So the complain about IPPIS is baseless and unfounded. Why would a professor be allow to visit more than two universities in a month? How would he cover the contact hours and quality delivery to students if he has to visit three, four, five and etc universities? All for money. Who are then killing the university education from within? Why would this malpractice be allow simply because it is ASUU. Respect should be earn through honesty. What is revitalization? Who will source over N1 trillion naira and throw it to universities for unspecified projects and look the other way? This will never happen. How many universities judiciously utilized the money given by President Goodluck Jonathan for Needs Assessment Projects? Infact you will see better projects in State Universities than federal universities. Why is ASUU silent about this? Who actually benefits from major projects? University Management and Union officials as supervisors but not lecturers. TETFUND is doing good in their intervention projects in all universities, so why this revitalization again? Why is ASUU drifting away from sourcing welfare of its members and targeting revitalization? Are they fighting for its members of universities management? As it is now, majority of ASUU member have gone to Abuja and enrolled for the IPPIS because the deception is too much. No government in the history of Nigeria is interested in education, so only sincerity of purpose, honesty and transparency in side of ASUU would defeat them and not stupid pride and propaganda. If Nigerian Universities are winning research grants and do the research, they would have solve their problems and earn more respect. Does it take new laboratory or office to put up an application for a good research? If ASUU had being encouraging good research, things would not have being this bad. You cannot help a politicians to rig elections and expect them to respect you.
