Samsung has officially announced its new flagship processor, the Exynos 1080 chipset. Dr. Yimao Cai of the company’s R & D Department made the announcement during an interview.

The Exynos 1080 chip is based on a 5nm manufacturing process. It makes use of Cortex-A78 cores and the Mali-G78 GPU.

Talking about this flagship chip, Dr. Yimao Cai made mention of its AuTuTu test score. He stated that the Exynos 1080 already exceeded 650,000 points in the test. This is expected to get even better after optimization.

When compared with the average test scores of smartphones using the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+ chipsets, even the 650,000 point tops them. These other phones scored more in some cases. However, according to the official data on the average AnTuTu scores, Asus ROG Phone 3 leads with a score of 615,000. This means that the Exynos 1080 is still ahead.

We expect the Vivo X60 to be the first smartphone running the Exynos 1080 chipset. The phone is already being advertised in retail stores in China, but there are no solid details on it yet.

I like samsung for their futuristic mind, kudos to them

Reason they allowing Vivo to try it out is cos the 5nm fab they claim to use to make this chip is a revised 7nm EUV fabrication so incase it flops...the rest you know

Samsung had the upper hand with the new fabrication process but TSMC knows how to use the tech better.

TSMC N5 fab process is still superior in terms of power draw and density (more silicons!) compared to Samsung's 5LPE.
