A trailer transporting an airplane causes heavy traffic gridlock in Edo. The plane which has its wings cut off is said to be coming from Lagos on its way to Abuja. Officials of the FRSC and NPF were on ground trying to direct the traffic.

My question here is this; since it's apparently a scrap plane, why not fully dismantle it before transporting it? Why put Nigerians through the pains of being stuck in traffic on a highway for hours just because of a scrap plane. Abi them wan go refurbish the plane?

There are set length and width of cargo a vehicle can carry on the road unless approval obtained earlier and preceded by escort vehicle and followed by escort vehicle.

Why are people surprised about this. How else do you want it to be moved when it is faulty and can't fly. I have seen in US where a whole train was moved by a 32 wheeler trailer on road. It's just that our road is too bad that's why this is a rare sight. The metals of this plane can be recycled and used to build two car body frames...

That's definitely a small plane whose parts and engines have been removed else there's no way that trailer would have even moved an inch. It's nothing compared to an Antonov An-225 or Airbus.

The weight of an empty airbus A318 is a about 39,500kg. There are trailers that have capacities of over 41,000kg

Hello guys! We all seem unaware but if you check, even in developed countries they convey plane parts with large vehicles to an assembly point where they load into a much larger ugly cargo plane that take it to a different [color= #990000]country[/color] for assembling. Different companies/organizations make different parts it’s up to them to deliver to them safely. These truck people are haulers.
