Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on Sunday said the # EndSARS protest in Osogbo , the state capital was hijacked by suspected political thugs.
The state police command confirmed the death of two people during the protest.
Oyetola in a state broadcast said suspected political thugs attacked him at the scene of the protest at Olaiya Junction and not youths protesting brutality by the defunct SARS operatives.
He said the incident would be investigated with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book .
He said, “ The attempt which was carried out by political thugs was pre - planned and our government shall investigate the matter with a view of bringing the perpetrators of this heinous act to book .

“ As the Chief Security Officer of the state , we shall ensure that lives and properties of our people shall be protected and anybody found culpable of causing unrest shall be made to face the wrath of the law . ”

Dear Governor,
Many thanks to you for clarifying things. FG seeking ways to end this peaceful expressions from the youth of this nation can do anything to disrupt it.
They should be fast to address the demands of these young Nigerians after all they are not asking to be paid but that the Country should be put on the path of progress for everyone to enjoy instead of a privileged few who put the lives of these young Nigerians in danger to get to elected offices and abandoning them afterwards.

The nonviolent agitation of Nigerian youths in successfully fostering their demands for Police reformation has gone a long way to prove that power belongs to the youths of any nation.

Nevertheless, I believe that more can be achieved in like manner especially in the area of political and economic restructuring that is needed at this time when the nation is on the brink of total collapse which is an avoidable option that could bring about an undesirable consequence. Unfortunately, police reformation will not stop police Brutality at large without reforming the entire national system.

Nigeria is undoubtedly Africa’s biggest economy and the most populous black nation on earth but for a long time has suffered from dwarfism as a result of regional economic inequality and the lop-sidedness of Nigeria’s political system have led to a series of protracted conflicts. The country is currently embroiled in crises similar to the tumultuous time after independence in 1960, when regional and ethnic tensions erupted in a vicious power struggle.

Systemic failure and unwarranted bureaucracy as a result of nepotism has stagnated our nation for too long and has provided a viable breeding ground for corruption to thrive.

I believe it is high time the youths stood up one more time to agitate for the only solution to our problem and I believe that together we can achieve this if we come together with one voice...

Restructuring is not disintegration.

Restructuring Means a Bigger, Better, Stronger and United indivisible Nigeria.

I believe it is high time we carried placards with stronger demands beyond Police Reformation.

Oga , Abeg let this politics brouhaha be put to rest once and for all. Majority of them have learnt their lesson.. SARS/ Police brutality on the other hand is another story that has affected all of us .. These various attrocities cut across religion , tribe and party affiliation . Let us unite to end this evil so that we can live freely without the fear of dying in the hand of our police .

A true scenario of what happened in Oshogbo yesterday. There's a division between the who controls the thugs in Oshogbo. This underlying feud got escalated BTW Asiri Eniba and D law. APC used both for election and abandoned a section(Egbatedo boys) after elections. The aggrieved thugs pinched tent with the protesters. The state sponsored thugs came to disrupt the protest day before yesterday. The Governor came to address the protesters , the aggrieved thugs who were abandoned by the Governor after election and who has already supported the protester saw an avenue to venge anger. They took over and on Sigthing that they could not be silenced , the governor had to leave... This led to the chaos you all re seeing. Lets not confuse Oshogbo protesters with StateBoys(Thugs) wrecking havoc on the street. The robot they created came for them.

Nice one from Governor Oyetola. He has vindicated the protesters and I know that what the FG wants to hear is that it came from the protesters.

Truth must prevail and SWAT must go whether they like it or not. We the youths still remains the leaders of tomorrow and today
