Now these are the countries we run to for financial aids and loans

Ordinary Nigerian Senator earns 4x what US president earns per year.

How about what Nigerian president earns? Ofcourse it's a classical secret they must never reveal.

How can our leaders earn 4-8x what the leaders of the western world earn but our citizens earns about 10x less than what western citizens earn ?

Our main problem is cost of governance.

Place senators and Reps members on the same salary scheme as the most senior grade level in Federal civil service. That way elective offices would become less competitive and only the people that really care to serve would run for those offices. The money hungry individuals would look for other trades to ply.

A Nigerian worker on a minimum wage of 30k who has worked for 35 years, retired and claimed all benefits, will still not earn the Salary of a Senator/Rep in a month.

There can never be peace without Justice.

All this emotional blackmail will not work.

Engage your lawmakers to correct whatever you think is wrong with the pay structure of public office holders.

you're talking trash.
You think the lawmakers would wholeheartedly agree to cut down their earnings after spending millions to get themselves elected?

We can only force them to do it. And the only way is by enlightening more people and getting out on the streets to enforce paradigm shifts.

Lol,
We like to humor ourselves sometimes.. Reminds me of some Nigerians who will like to argeu vociferously about the need for citizens to get their voters card ready to kick out Buhari! I mean, kick out a man that has been involved in almost 4 coups! If any of those coups failed, he will be tied at the bar beach and shot according to law! A man that took such risks will now allow you to chase him away with you "nuclear powered PVC"!?? Check am naa..E make sense? We should embibe the habit of telling ourselves some home truth sometimes..

Now, we are comparing salaries..Has there been any Nigerian president that really worried about his salaries? I'm sure some of them will feel insulted with that.
Salary issues are for those who might find reasons to depend on their salaries at a point. Not the likes of Buhari who can award the richest oil block in the country to his dog from his bed and nothing will happen.. The gap between countries with effective remunerative structures for their political office holders and those that have consciously institutionalized corruption is massive..

You Have Spoken Well. Cost Of Governance Is Too Expensive. We Should Reduce It Urgently.

we can save the country a whole lot just by cutting the salaries of the members of the national assembly.
Checking the presidency might be a lot more tougher but you can make suggestions on how to if you have any. We need to find ways to check these guys excesses . You can run a successful country this way

We're on the same page, bro.. What I was trying to say is that we have erected an administrative structure that not only permits corruption, but also encourages it. The fact that such practices have now lasted for more than half a century without being challenged seriously, has now turned it into some sort of tradition. Ways to save money? You asked for it:

1) Cut the amarphous "security votes"! Nothing encourages institutionalized corruption in Nigeria today more than this. Security votes are more or else funds mapped out by the executives for internal security issues but in almost all cases, the handlers account to nobody. In Delta State for instance, there was a year the governor there mapped out over 30% of the budget as the states security vote! That's almost half of the budget! Outrageous! There is no single governor in Nigeria that is not deeply involved in using the security votes to loot. And Buhari knows but won't do anything.

2) Cut down the size of government. By this I mean both the size of political appointees and the civil service. Many governors have thousands of "aids" , who are nothing but ethnic henchmen or party urchins. Essentially this has become an avenue to find jobs for "the boys". Same with the civil service that is highly over-bloated, because politicians have turned that into a 'social scheme' sort of. Have a law on the number of commissioners a state can have (shouldn't be above 12, if you ask me) and aids. Local governments too..

3) Have a federal agency that should be constitutionally charged to go through all government contracts above say 100k. All! You draw up the contract papers as a governor for instance, you forward that to this body, and they must get back to you within a month..It's going to be tedious but trying times demand far reaching actions. Any further increases must be reported to this body. The EFCC is compromised at the moment to do this.

4) Retire the license of any bank involved in money laundering. Especially for politicians and civil servants. Send the executives involved to lenghty jail terms, starting from say 35 years for the smallest funds involved. Ofcourse the jail term continues to get bigger with bigger funds. Same with ordinary individuals involved in siphoning funds for politicians or from private businesses!

5)All oil well licenses, all gas fields licenses, all solid minerals rights awarded, all contracts by such agencies like the NNPC, the PPMC, the customs, internal revenue service etc should be reviewed. Infact, left to me, most oil Wells should revert back to a VERY PROFESSIONALLY managed agency for management. Most oil Wells"dashed" to friends of people in power are now resold to some lucky Chinese and westerners, who pay half the price for these and then make a kill from those thereafter. That kills the so called local content policy!

6) Finally, make it mandatory for all public officers, both the elected, the appointed and civil servants to sign a one page document that will authorise the state to shoot them to death, if it's proven beyond reasonable doubt that they are involved in corruption! This should be the first paper to sign after thee swearing in ceremonies or after signing the appointment/employment papers.

Let's start this way, I believe we could be saving trillions every year..

You have spoken like a true son of his father.
Many people are good at criticizing but are empty in offering alternatives or solutions. Put them in that seat they do worst.

Your ideas are germane.

They would set up a N5B committee to look into your recommendations, ofcourse the committee would be made up of the same clowns, they have experience in this shittt, they have been doing it since you were conceived.

Have you not wondered why we don't have electricity even when neighboring countries made up of identical tribes to Nigeria have 24 hours electricity?

Don't you think all these gross underdevelopment is 100% intentional? Can't you see that the only project that has worked in the last 30 years was personally built by the Chinese (with their money)

Its time we start to think

You have a point... I have personally done some work on the reasons for this "intentional strive towards underdevelopment"... I have my candid views on that but there is no way one can make such views without being termed a tribalist or so... So let's let the sleeping dog lie.... That said, i just think it's counter productive to surrender power to cultures that see modernisation as some sort of Haram! Enclaves with serious ideological impairments (political/religious) shouldn't be the ones entrusted with the responsibility of steering the country towards rapid developments/urbanization.. It's very simple; You can't convincingly embark on what you don't believe in..
