From my personal experience, the services i receive from standard chartered bank is excellent. The only con is that they are way too expensive to run. My money transfers and online payments are done in minutes worse case in hours. Actually the core of scb's banking operation is international money transfer. You will not see many people giving credit to scb, this is because a large percentare of their customers are the big time money bags who would most likely not visit nairaland.

The best by far is Standard Chartered Bank and they do not charge any money for deposits only for withdrawals. They are the international wholesale foreign exchange bank that almost all Nigerian Banks use but they remain exclusive but they are not really that expensive.

Opening Balance= 2,500 Dollars but you can withdraw them the next day.

Very Good Bank and no fraud and delays like our local Banks

just make sure you stay away from these banks;
- fidelity bank
- confused intercontinental bank
- uba
-skye bank
these are undisputably the most useless banks in our wonderful country.

Actually, we started with Zenith as our main domestic bank and we still do, but when it comes to Domiciliary account with them, we were very disappointed. I just think you have a better choice at this point for your Domiciliary accounts than Zenith. I'm not sure the nature of your business, but Diamond will even assign an account manager to help you out. They're good, they really are. Good luck

Good day all I work in Intercontinental Bank, A subsidiary of Access Bank  and I want to say that I will score the bank high in respect of domiciliary transfers.I have customers who have accounts with FBN in particular and the always complain of time lag of the dom transfers. They prefer to wire from Inter cos our transfers hit the recipient in less than 24 hrs though they say charges of FBN are lower than ours,

i use Ecobank for my fx transfers and i have used them for more than 3 years. i found their charges lower than GTbank. although i like GTbank, i totally disagree with all those who have said GTB is the best when it comes to funds transfer. GTbank might be the best when it comes to the total customer experience but this post is about fx account

although i have a naira account with first bank, i will never consider them for any other business.

^^^^^^ Thanks for the honest analysis. One can decide if customer service, speed of transfers or charges are the priorities when deciding
on the Bank to open domiciliry account.
Re: Best Banks In Nigeria For Domicilary Accounts by dfanthom(m): 8:01am On Nov 10, 2011
hello, you may try ECOBANK!
they have the largest footprints across Africa, charges for fcy transfers are $25.00 or 0.5%.
it can even be negotiated lower if the frequency of transfers is high. No limit to transfers of inflows!

highly effective in this respect, many people don't see them coming but they have carved their niche for sure. this was a bank that had only 27 branches in Nigeria in 2005, 6years on with the Oceanic takeover, grossing almost 700 branches!

Viva l'Ecobank! grin
