Niraland Needs To Act On Fake News by Saifulah(op):
Tempers are high and nerves are frayed, but amidst all these fake news thrives.

I have seen a lot of threads debunking the allegations of people declared dead:

Sighting of ex lagos governor in paris

Note I am not confirming nor debunking these claims only a call to nairalad.com that with more power comes more responsibility

Nairaland has no plans to ensure veracity of news, even when you call ouft news for being fake once it makes frontpage they hardly retract it. It is becoming clear there is need for legislation on this issues, fake news is fueling the unrest in Lagos, and might spark inter ethnic violence at the rate things are going. It is sad that fake news seems to fall within the ethics of some!

If they cant verify such news then post like this needs to go to FP to alert people of prevalence of unverified news out there.

I had to reproach a friend some minutes ago who posted a video that happened somewher in Africa in our private chatroom claiming it was in Nigeria

divide and rule tactics by the north to continue dominating and enslaving us here in the south in collaboration is a very unfortunate thing...we youth in the south holds ourselves the responsibility to remain united as they know a united south will bring an end to norther domination down here...we need to be smart and focus in this struggle together to gain total and absolute freedom from this lot....a united south is a prosperous south...we stick together we get very formidable

really dude! The north that your ilks so fondly taunt as illiterate and backward will mount such a sophisticated and well coordinated online propaganda.

If its not to much to ask lets both pray that may God expose and destroy the enemies fanning this flame (Amin)
