I am trying to get an suv and the little survey I did with some mechanics showed me that Acura mdx is a very problematic vehicle which should me avoided.

I also saw somewhere on the internet that the vehicle is prone to transmission problems.

I need advise from people who have experience with this vehicle and possible substitute. I just need a small suv that will not give me problems.

The transmission problem affects mainly 2001-2003 models. Possibly 04

If i want to get one, i will not get anything below 05 model and you are fine.

Other options:

Toyota Highlander
Lexus Rx300
Honda CRV

My budget can not get me above 05 model so I would rather go for other options.

Broda, J̲̣̣̣U̶̲̥̅̊§τ̲̅ quietly go for lexus rx 300 or 330 if u can afford it. D Suv is excellent äπϑ does not give u any problems watsoever. Am using it presently.

It's funny how Nigerian mechanics and people in general can say things that they can not substantiate. Acura MDX is a high end luxury car built by Honda. That car is very solid. Don't forget that any car can develop problems, especially when serviced by roadside mechanics or you constantly ignore the maintenance schedule. I have been driving an 02 MDX I bought for over 8 years now and have not had any transmission problems with it. My friend who introduced me to MDX has been driving his for over 11 years with no wahala. On the other hand we have a friend who has a Lexus RX300 and he can't seem to stop wasting money on that car. Maintenance is key to all luxury cars. You won't go wrong with an MDX or a Lexus or Honda or Toyota SUV. It's your money, enjoy it!
