For some time now, I've noticed the quick depletion of glo data after the increase in vat this 2020. A plan of 500 to last for a week for example depletes in seconds on my sister's phone and that was my experience too with the 2500 naira plan. I checked to make sure that I wasn't unknowingly sharing data with someone else but I wasn't. Please has anyone noticed this too?

Lol if u think glo drain data then try Airtel and MTN. Airtel are the king of data stealing followed by mtn. Truth is no matter what glo does to uas slong as u enjoy the network strength just stick with them beca they at least enjoy tax break to not extort subers that much. The worse part is using MTN with an iPhone ur own don be that.

This is not true abeg,I have read the same complain countless times on nairaland about MTN,Airtel etc. You guys see your little subscription as much,it's not. This is the age of Android, you have Instagram,Twitter, Facebook,Snapchat and tens of other social apps that you spend hours on daily. If you don't know,Tiktok requires about 250mb to watch just about 10 videos that are just few seconds long each. Imagine how much data an average girl use on Instagram daily, the pages you follow upload very high resolution pictures taken with high end phones.
Manage your data well, stop clicking every YouTube link you come across damn it angry

You be will surprised that many people don't even know their background data is turned on by default which means apps are consuming data without using them. Photos and videos taking with the phone are automatically uploaded to icloud and Google drive, but most people are not aware of this, there by depleting data quickly.

Do u want to compare the phone u are using 5years ago to the phone u are using now
Available phones now have a lot of features that consume data

People want to spend 4 hours a day on Instagram watching comedian videos and then they claim their data is finishing very quickly.

Just opening your Instagram takes about 9mb.

Then talkless of watching those Instagram comedy skits that 3mins is about 30 - 40 mb.

Then you do whatsapp video calls where 1hour = 200mb.

If you are not sure of your data usage,

Download Phone Master and track it.

See if your daily usage tracked by the app matches the one shown when you dial the USSD code for checking data

Consumption of data has nothing to do with network provider
The only thing we should be talking about is expensive data they are selling to us

that's messed up

I can't restrict myself when I bought enough data for a given time

In a week I use about 4gb on mtn and I don't restrict myself so why should 12gb data finish in one week even if he's watching videos and apps are loading in the background

It would only be justified if he downloaded things or was streaming movies in high quality or streaming a lot of YouTube videos at 360p upwards coupled with regular activities

Gaming on mobile can't eat up that much data in a week except that's not the only extra thing he does

When would this country grow
In 2020 we're still struggling for data when in some countries people watch 4k movies anyhow, sleep off while Netflix is playing back to back without being bothered but if na naija you go start to dey regret se you on TV that night

I can tell you that 95% of Nigerians turn off their mobile data once they are done meanwhile in some countries that feature is only used when they want to switch to WiFi
I remember the days of BlackBerry when turning off mobile data was a taboo but now it has become a norms
