The amazing part is that he sold the car that he is still paying for. I get that times are hard and stuff, but if you sold the car and what was left for repayment is 900k, why not repay with your full chest?

GBAM!!

My exact thoughts!

I'm sure the car brought in more than 900k nau. Why sell what's not fully yours and still not pay the owner nau? That's the bad and criminal part.
Even if there were lots of pressing needs, repayment should have been the priority man!

Pathetic to say the least.

You can imagine oo. With 2.9m he could have gotten very good Toyota cars and save himself this embarrassment. What happened to Toyota Camry Muscle from 2007 to 2011 or even Highlander or RX 330? Infact there are many options for the money he had rather than buying on credit.

Wicked? Did you read the chats? Or you just assume cos he's a celebrity, he has the money but refused to pay the dealer? Bro, everyone owes, the dealer thought he could humiliate him with the whole going public stunt. If you've paid 2.9m out of 3.8m, it makes the property yours and can decide to do whatever you want with it including selling it. In shareholding, 51% grants you ownership.
Okonowele8:

What you are saying is different from this whole thing.

Anyways I can't argue with you. But for emphasis sake this Ebiye is very wicked and dishonest and I can't deal with such people.

Additionally the dealer understands debts and credit in business but what is worrisome in my view is the debtor refuse to pay up and sold the car.

Think about it and just assume you were the dealer since u said u are a business man!

Birds of a feather. DId you read the part that he resold the car and diverted the money into a business with an uncertain outcome. So we should applaud him for acknowledging his debt that he should have paid off after selling a car he bought on credit. Why are you folks this heartless?
wonder233:
Nice response from Ebiye. He didn't deny owing, he reaffirmed he was going to pay. Case closed.
Did the dealer think world was going to end when he calls him out? Aside the usual snide remarks like "celebrities and fake life" , bla bla bla, what else?
Even Dangote owes banks. The man should go and lick stew

Please try to get an exposure. On car notes, if you have been paying for 28 months on a 36months tenor and you default, that car will be repossessed unless you come up quickly with an acceptable payment plan. How the heck did you come up with the shareholding crap.On a property that is technically not yours yet.

You just shot yourself in the foot with the scenario you painted. "if you have been paying for 28 months in a 36 months tenor", that means you are on course! You've not exceeded the tenor period. In addition, are you privy to the tenor agreement between the two? Then on the last point on shareholding: your phrase "property that is technically not yours" gives you away as a layman. A layman views ownership only as when you use your money to completely purchase something. It would be too cumbersome to educate you on a comment section about the business meaning of the word "Ownership".
I refer you to books and materials on shareholding. When you've read, let's have a discussion

I read the chats very well and I also noted the dates on the chats but I can't say the same about u.

It is plain wickedness and dishonesty and I could see that Ebiye do not want to pay him his money.

What worries me most is he sold the car and yet refused to pay.

I am really sorry for engaging you. You truly do not deserve my time.

Thank you.

Please get an education.Even an existing shareholder loses his or her rights offer if not paid for. Please go and enlightened yourself about T&Cs under lease agreement or hire purchase which this transaction fall under.

In this context, It is "enlighten" not "enlightened". That aside, the arrangement between Ebiye and the car dealer is neither a lease nor hire purchase. It is a direct purchase. You see how you're exposing your ignorance?
Lastly, because I referred you to read up on ownership and shareholding, you went to the area of rights issue, which is irrelevant to the present discourse. Why didn't you ask me to clarify which area you should focus on?
Is that how to learn?

Chasing shadows, you went to highlight an obvious slip of grammar which we are both second language speaker. YOur inability to read in depth has made you to be defending a crook strenuously. .Did you not read about an agreement to pay instalmentally the outstanding balance. If it was a proper dealership what do you call that kind of purchase? My last riposte on this, defending a crook that defaulted even after disposing an asset that has not been fully paid for and diverted it to another business interest speaks volume about your character.Ciao

"There are two sides to every story. The first one to speak sounds true until you hear the other side and they set the record straight."

It's a good thing he came out and explained his own part. To drag someone on social media for less than 900k seems low.
I don't support defaulting on a loan but I think we aren't in normal times, even corporate lenders gave their borrowers some slack.

I guess what pissed the salesman was him reselling the car and still not settling his bills. That's greed on the comedian's part.

What kind of stupid talk is this ?

'To DraG s0mEonE On sOciaL MedIa For LeSs THan 900k SeeMs Low'.

They had an agreement and he defaulted severally and went ahead to sell the car, so what excuse does he have as why he did not pay up ?

Abeg no dey justify stupid behavior. Everyone knows how tough it is trying to get by in Nigeria, even ebiye jokes no dey funny for this buhari climes.

If there is a breach of contract, the proper thing to do is to go to the law courts for redress. But alas I don't expect you to know better.
The comedian is well within his rights to sue for defamation.

As I said, I don't support defaulting on a contract, but dragging or defaming a person on social media is too low. Plus, it just shows how powerless one is and opens you up to lawsuits.

If dragging people on social media works, banks would probably be doing it.

The judiciary system is a mess in Nigeria.

You'd spend more than that amount to get justice.

so what are you on about again ?

This is a zoo, not a first world country.
