I second the "buyer beware" caution for buying an older Mercedes or any German brand. They tend to need lots of maintenance at around 100k miles. But what caught my attention is that OP is cross shopping a three row SUV vs. 2 row SUV vs a sedan.
My question to OP is "what exactly do you need the vehicle for or to do for you"?

Private use. Travel to other states. I am still thinking I should settle for my usual Japanese. I really crave yo test an SUV Benz of such class within my budget.

Based on your needs and your desire to drive a Mercedes, I would recommend a sedan first and foremost then perhaps one of the smaller crossovers like GLA, GLB, GLC or the GLE SUV. I am not a fan of the earlier ML. It was trouble when new and would be a disaster used if the issues have not been sorted. Whatever Benz you consider, be prepared to pay a bit more for the best unit you can find. There is nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes!

I can speak from personal experience...... I bought a GL from Mercedes Benz(Brand new). Had vehicle for 12 years, always maintained and serviced by Mercedes Benz.....

Vehicle was problem free, till 10 years old. All sort of sensor issues, malfunctioning buttons etc etc.. ..

I drive a benz suv and trust me, benz sensors aren't expensive... of sensors are giving you issues change it... if it's speed sensors .... clean it up, it might be mud or change it... I don't see it as an issue

ML 320 fro 2002 version up is a tank (W163 and W164) are good cars .... trust me

I have driven a Japanese for years and I have driven benz... started with C class now driving an SUV 4matic ML ... Trust me... that car is a great ride... once you start with benz you are hoooked.. the performance and reliability is the key


you rarely see a benz suv packing up on the road... just maintain it
