A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has rejected prayers offered him by one of his followers on social media who is a Muslim.

In rejecting the prayers, Omokri said he does not accept prayers from Muslims because Christians and Muslims don't serve the same God.

Quoting from the Bible and the Quran, Omokri said it was clear that both faiths serve different God.

He stated that in Quran 17:111, it is written that God does not have a son but the In Scripture, in Matthew 3:17, God spoke from heaven Himself and said “This (Christ) is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

He noted that both statements are contradictory. and could not have emanated from the same God because HE is not the author of confusion.

Continuing, the former Jonathan's aide said he does not accept a prayer not said in the name of Christ.

His words "We do not serve the same God. You have yours and we have Ours. And I can ONLY say amen to a prayer said in the Name of Christ."

He advised his Muslim followers to stop following him if his understanding of religion bothers them, noting that he is not prepared to compromise on his beliefs so he can be popular or have followers.

This man is not just educated but good at diplomacy

Reno is and has always been an extremist. In every Yoruba family, there is at least a christian or a muslim and the basic understanding that binds us in peace and harmony is that we are yorubas (humans) first before anything else. Reno would do well to inculcate this idea rather than continue to push this divide that even the Pope is advising against.

Religious divide is soo powerful in that if it goes away today, a sizeable portion of the world's problem would go away with it too.

Any child of God who understands the Bible will see the truth in what Reno said.

It doesn't mean he's an extremist, he said it as it it.

You can't be lukewarm as a Christian, you're either cold or hot, even Jesus said he'd spit you out if you're lukewarm.

We are to be at peace with all men irrespective of our religious differences, eat with them, work with them and pray for the salvation of the souls of those who are lost and also preach the word of God to them but the only name given on earth on whom we can pray is the name of Jesus.
