I can now say almost authoritatively that One reason for Covid-19 is to deal brutally against the global economic system. It is meant to devastate economies like Nigeria’s to the point of no option of salvaging.
Prepare for tough times Nigerians.

l think that is why ASUU refuse to adopt this lppis formation to avoid stories that touch , like this;
The circular, signed by the Deputy Controller-General
(Admin & Supplies), Mr Quintus G. Azogu, on
behalf of the Controller General read: “I am directed
to inform all personnel of the Service that the
Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System,
IPPIS, department of the Office of the Accountant-
General of the Federation, OAGF, was unable to pay
salaries since September 2020 due to insufficient

Ask our leaders, ask them where are all the investment they put in this country with their money. They don't know that why we gave them such salary was because as the government, they have the manpower, unlike us we have the money but not the manpower, so we gave it to them. Ask them what they did with their money and their investment in Nigeria and their communities. U won't see one thing. It is only senator mattew urogide I am hearing everywhere. What a wasteful government. They will be Claiming something we did not see.
This is why I demand the reduction of the salaries of Senates and our leaders, both with all their allowances and all to the total of 2 million. Only presidents and governors should get 3 million.

They have exceeded their wage bill because they have stuffed the place with their people.

Over employment and gross abuse of entry level appointments is the problem.

They will employ one Ab0ki who graduated in 2012 and place him on Level 12.

This is why they have exceeded their wage bill.

They all keep mouthing restructuring,
They know the solution but keep throwing money they don't have on a structure that was designed to favour the few it currently favours,
If you like charge N500 for power and 20% VAT, it would all be shared by states and the story continues
And restructuring or division won't change that

People paying more attention would.

Democracy is HARD WORK.

What of those senators earning 26 million Naira per month?
Aso - rock hospital is poorly or not facilitated, is subsidy the cause of the problem?
Poor health care or no health care, subsidy is the cause of the problem.
Other sane countries give social welfare to their citizens as forms of subsidy to cushion the effects of the economy.
Your points are valid but are very unreasonable.
Some of you will come to nairaland to be ranting with out due diligence.
The NA has a budget of a trillion naira.

Nigeria needs far more than that in extra funding to have an adequate budget.

[After 60years of selling oil yet no meaningful development apart from jumbo salary. No light no road no security. Yet someone would wake up and say Nigeria doesn't depend on oil. Its simple cut the cost of governance or you kill people with tax
1..We actually have far more roads than we did in 1960.Infact, there are far more roads in Nigeria today, than there were inn 1960

2.More areas are hooked up to the national grid than they were in 1960. My village for example in 1960 had no electric power at all in 1960. Today they are connected to the grid.

3.We don't have light because for decades we have refused to make the power sector profitable. Even now , we produce power at N53 per kwh, and sell it at less than N30 per kwh. If you ran a business where you sold your goods below their production cost, you would be broke too.

But anytime government tries to increase prices for power, people like you say that we are poor. Well, government agrees with you. We are poor. And 5000mw is what this poor country can afford.

Also, many people don't pay for power. (Yes, abuse me if you want, but many Nigerians, and I have personally seen this, don't pay their power bills.)

Same with fuel. Since the late 1970's we have been selling fuel below its refinning cost per liter. And paying a subsidy thaat does not even begin to cover the potential losses as a result. And we expect enough profit to fix refinereis, build new ones, etc? You have a better chance expecting Kim Kardashian to agree to divorce Kanye and marry you.(And once Dangote fiinishes his refinery, subsidy iss going to go compeltely, or Dangote woon't have the profits he needs to make the refinery work. Not with the loans he has taken for it.)

4.Cutting the cost of governance would at best add an extra trillion naira . To be honest we need budgets IMO of 50 trillion and above before we can even talk of having enough for everyone.

5.Removing subsides in petroll and power means yes, we pay higher for fuel and electricty. But it also means more investment from outside, and more moneyy for expanding power facilties, more jobs directly and indriectly, and more light, more refinnereis, more money to fix transmission, etc.And there would be more income for government in form of taxes.

Quite frankly we shouuld have done this ages ago.

Look at the GSM sector. Obasanjo allowed them to come and exploit us. My dad's first sim cost N10000. My first sim cost me 7000 naira. They made huge profits. Poeple were callinng on Obasanjo to force GSM companies to cut prices.

They took our money and built our viibrant IT sector that has provided jobs and revenue. (And before you start complainning of their service...let me remind you of the days when internet in this country was so slow that you could spend 2 hours trying to load one page. Untiil GSM companes built the infrastructure needed to make it movve faster.)

And SIM prices came down. Just as fuel and power prices will come down if deregulationn occurs.

So yes, I have done my due dilligence.

6. As for tax. Nigerian tax rates are 0-24% . Some developed couuntries have tax rates of 50% . If you earn below 50000 Monthly you even don't get to pay tax. Our tax too gdp ratio is 5.8%. US is 33% Ghana is above 20%. Yes, if we inncrease taxes our leaders will chop the money...because most oof us don't do the hard work of a democracy

Exactly, democracy is very hard work, and a military constitution + religious doctrine turned parallel constitution just won't cut it
