Pure democracy is inherently flawed, at least the US has an electoral college to try to balance things out. Even in Nigeria the winner of the popular vote can't be declared winner without 25% of the vote in at least 24/36 states**.

Are you sure? I hope you know the President of Nigeria has to win 2/3 of all states too in addition to the numbers.
Of course, that's not to say we even have anything close to an actual democracy. But our elections are more democratic in design
