On 23rd of October, Governor Wike of River State announced that the indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) had gone on a rampage, burnt Police Station and courts and killed 6 Soldiers and 4 Policemen. He then went further to proscribe the group in Rivers state. These 5 points show that Wike's claims were all baseless driven by politics 1. While announcing that IPOB was hereby proscribed in Rivers, Wike also announced that s certain 'Stanley Mgbere' was an IPOB leader who led IPOB to attack Onne. Wike then placed a N50 million bounty on the man's head. Wike was in such a rush to get IPOB down that he didnt know that Stanley Mgbere was a well known activist who had been leading protests in Onne against oil companies in the area to hire more indigenes. He also led an ENDSARS protest in Onne. He has no connection to IPOB and since come out to say do. If Wike could implicate an innocent man, he can implicate IPOB 2. On the 24th of October, Wike held a meeting with youth leaders from the state. In that meeting, which the video is still on YouTube, Wike exposed the political side of his attack on IPOB. He told them that IPOB wanted to annex Rivers state into their 'Zone' and that everyone must do everything to keep Rivers state in the Niger Delta. The topic deviated from IPOB causing mayhem in Rivers state to IPOB trying take Rivers out of Niger Delta. It was at this meeting that Wike invited the security forces to Oyigbo 3. During the ENDSARS protest, most states in the South witnessed Police stations being burnt, lives were lost on both sides, protesters and Police. So why was Wike the only Governor procribing people, imposing unbearable lockdown and inviting military? It shows anyone who cares to know that this had less to do with IPOB and more to do with Wikes future political ambitions as well as his hatred for Oyigbo, which is an Igbo community 4. Wike claimed that IPOB killed 6 armed Soldiers and took their weapons away. What Wike never bothered to tell anyone is how IPOB managed to overwhelm 6 armed Soldiers. How is this possible without a vicious fire fight? Where did it happen? Where are the bodies? What are the name of these six Soldiers? Absolutely no information. Wike thinks once he says IPOB killed 6 Soldiers, everyone will believe his lying lips 5. Wikes claim is that IPOB burnt Police station and court, killed 6 Soldiers and 4 Policemen. This is a claim he made with no investigation, no arrests, no conviction, no evidence and not one shred of proof. Wike arrogated to himself the role of investigator, judge, Jury and executioner. This should never be allowed in a democracy for it is dictatorship Let nobody be decieved by Wike. |
