MrEgghead:I'm not in health field but you are wrong. You people need to stop being scared of other health workers. Pharmacists are trained to consult. I'm not in Nigeria and that's what is obtainable. A pharmacist consulting shouldn't give you sleepless night, that's some inferiority complex 1 Like |

MrEgghead:Good for you, that's more reason you should allow others progress and stop having palpitations over career progression of others. Mist of you with your mbbs can't practice in Canada and USA. Thank God for UK saving you guys life. You lots end up becoming nursing aides or Physician assistant. 1 Like |

anastasius:I'm just sorry for you.. it's not your fault..About 13000 applied for Medicine last year in UNIBEN alone and only 150 taken, that's not even up to 0•1%... Now I see why many are envious of the prestigious MBBS as you can see the huge number that their hopes are dashed every year but many of them still try again and again to get it...I subscribe you to do something and it will be worthwhile. |

MrEgghead: please what is the job and job limitations of a consultant pharmacist. I don't know if there are consultant pharmacist in Nigeria hospital settings but there are in other countries. |
Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by MrEgghead(m): 6:03pm On Nov 14, 2020 |
OyedejiIfedayo:A consultant Pharmacist dispenses medications and advises patients on drug use..They can call the attention of a physician to modify a drug list if need be..The issue of consultant title for non-doctors has been lingering for years but there hasn't been a definitive ruling on that for now and I don't think the title for a pharmacist is duly recognized in Nigeria.. Consultant pharmacists are recognised in countries like US but they are not hospital based. |

MrEgghead: Maybe I shouldn't bother saying anything again, and rather keep learning. We should just thank God for our achievements. |

Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by samuelpeters(m): 8:46pm On Nov 14, 2020 |
MrEgghead:They are hospital based but they know their limits unlike nigerians that would bastardize it. The issue of consultancy in nigeria is more of personal benefit than patient care(if you know what i mean). I have been in this health sector politics for sometime and I'm tired. The only advice that i can give to anyone is to sitdown and research about these courses. How can people claim to be students and cannot research. Later they graduate and start causing nuisance everywhere. 1 Like 1 Share |

samuelpeters:How did you arrive at the conclusion that they'll bastardize it? Perhaps your thinking is that every other healthcare professional is like the Nigerian physician whose stock in trade is bastardization of the healthcare sector. Why is it so hard for some of you to understand the fact that no pharmacist worth his license would waste his time being envious of you Nigerian physicians or trying to be you All the pharmacist are saying is give them room to do their jobs to the fullest as obtains in the developed societies, they are not trying to usurp your duties. Only doctors who don't know their callings would be bothered about the roles of consultant pharmacists! The roles are very distinct! Try and decipher your role and fit in instead of whining. |
Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by samuelpeters(m): 10:02am On Nov 15, 2020 |
Jman06:This is nigeria bro, it will be bastardized. I know there are pharmacists that know their worth but majority are just there. Reason why pharmacists still go back for medicine. Maybe when pharmacists start getting consultancy status by rigorous training in their Postgraduate College rather than number of years in service, then i would take them serious. Same goes to other health profession. Shey there was a time LASG gave consultancy status to some pharmacists by virtue of reaching GL17 what the heck is that Doing the same thing for years without any advancement in knowledge and core professionalism and want to be a consultant? Where is that done? Then i should just be a General practitioner without specializing after some number of years, i would become a consultant 1 Like 1 Share |

samuelpeters:There are also medical doctors who are incompetent just like there are those who are good. I have seen many doctors who are grossly incompetent! You clearly do not know the requirements a pharmacist has to meet to qualify as a consultant. Perhaps you don't know that there is a 5years residency training involved. No pharmacist would become a consultant just on the basis of number of years in service without going through the residency training. |
Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by samuelpeters(m): 3:00pm On Nov 15, 2020 |
Jman06:Alright. No problem. I haven't really seen the requirements. Once there's a rigorous training involved, then you guys can carry on. Its your right! 1 Like 1 Share |

mannyiyke:Sorry for quoting you sir just wanted to make My opinion known. There are various branches of Medicine but some have become independent. They are: *Human Medicine *Veterinary medicine * osteopathic medicine(usa) *podiatric medicine (usa) *Dentistry The Doctor that is causing issues was held by the apostles because they taught"Doktoris" means to teach. the Physicians who we know now did not start bearing the title until the late 15th-16th century. Scholars were also referred to as Doctors because they have acquired knowledge and that is the PhD(Phillosophae Doktoris) Philosophy means acquire knowledge. Dentists were initially barbers. you get your hair done and your teeth done if need be. the Doctors or Physicians refused to accept them because they saw them as common barbers. It was only years later when they decided to make it a profession they saw the correspondence scientifically. they're run by various boards but Nigeria is a shame. 1 Like |
