Hello, everyone. I wish to know if a survey plan is enough proof of ownership when looking to buy a piece of land.

It depends on who the seller is.
If it's family (omó-onile), estate company, or individual who as once bought from omó-onile and want to resell.
So kindly clarify who the seller is

Thanks for the response. I think it's a real estate company. Does it make a difference if the party offering it is a family or an individual, please?

If it's a real estate company, then I don't think survey plan is enough document, they should be able to have any government legal document like CofO, gazette, execution etc.
Survey is just a paper documents to show the size of land.
But majority of family don't usually do government documents, they only do surveys to show where there land start from and where it ends, so when u are buying from them they will issue you family receipt and deed of assignment/conveyance ( family paper called iwè ebi) which all there principal family members will sign.

And if it's from individual: then that means the person as done survey to show where is land start from and where it ends, the individual then needs to show u the receipt and family deed of assignment they use and buy from the family.
