This is part of the incompetence of FG. So tanker drivers are now more powerful than the laws of the land? Parking heavy trailers on the road has become the norm all over the country, wrecking the roads, yet the FG just turns ablind eye. Like Fashola said, if trucking is your business then plan for well designed trailer parks along expressways that do not deface and destruction the road and do not cause a nuisance for other road users.

After reading, I didnt find anywhere prepared as alternative parking for them, bubu's style of government, this government don't operate with reality at all.

If you want to have a truck... you must plan where to park it. It is not for the FG to provide parking.... we always look for the FG to provide everything. Their responsibility is to provide the highways..... and to enforce the no parking rules. This is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in truck parks.... but we can't see such opportunities.
I just hope the laws are enforced period..... don't know why he has to talk about oil on road as if it will be ok to park if no oil gets on the road.

Absolutely right. When starting the business didn't the truck owners have a plan for where to park them? Well obviously not, but the road is not the place. FG should act for once and stop talking!!

That's not the government's job bro. Owner of truck should find a parking spot that does not contravene the law.

If you live in Lagos you won't talk like this, the reality now is that a park must be provided by the FG otherwise, story story,
Is FG the owners of cows in Nigeria that wants to take every part of Nigerian states for grazing?

Why must a park be provided by the FG? Hopefully.... no parking rules are enforced.... let them wait for FG to build a park. Lack of consistent enforcement is the reason for breakdown of law and order.
What cows has to do with this?

They should vacate and go where? If there were actual parks for trailers and trucks, the drivers won't need to park on the highway which is unsafe

The problem with that road is the hill - portioned part of the bridge (I can't remember if its Kara or Otedola bridge)

Some trucks carrying fuel cannot pull the trailer past it, and that's where the accident occurs

This is very commendable, but I hope Julius Berger does something about that spot.

That place is usually the genesis of most truck accidents on the expressway
It's very simple. Every truck has a towing capacity. All they need to do is adjust to the towing capacity and probably reduce a bit but these guys thinks as long as there is space they can carry the whole depot

"Fashola while addressing them said, “The point is that trucking and trailer operation is business if you want to run fleets, then you must plan parking. if the government helps you, the government does so out of compassion but you cannot run your business at the expense of the convenience and the livelihood of millions of people"

SAN - Mr. Fashola, just ready the rubbish above.

This is a welcome order.

If they will obey the minister and not turn the deaf ears as usual

It is not about 'if they would obey the Minister' ,it is that they MUST OBEY the law as we are very highly indiscipline people!
• Why should a Minister still be calling those doing the business there to order,in the first instance?
• Why should both the so called Custodians of custom(Oba's,Kabiyesi, oil tankers owners even Federal Road Corps ) who should be road enforcers are part of the road destroyers, yet everyone seems to be looking the other way like Custom posts!
• Most of these people do go abroad yet there not offend the law without serious fallout.
•Most of the evil happening by the express Road in Nigeria had led to so many deaths in the land.
Shameful!
Thank you,Minister Fashola, you got it right!

Americans are immigrants. All of them left Europe, traveled to USA, beat shit out of the natives and develop the whole USA by force. That organisational skills and determination that enabled them to cross Atlantic Ocean fearlessly, is what enabled them build all their roads and develop the new land that they found.

In Nigeria, WE ARE THE NATIVES. That's why nothing works.
See the real native Americans. How many have you seen acting film or inventing anything?

We need another protest for this one. This is another thing Nigeria Government have been battling with for decades.
How many times have they been ordering trucks to vacate?
Re: FG Orders Parked Trucks, Trailers On Lagos-ibadan Expressway To Vacate by helicoptarr: 3:27am On Nov 22, 2020
TWO simple QUESTIONS:

1. It took just four years to construct Lagos-Ibadan expressway, why is it taking decades to fix it?

2. Why wait this long to make this move to rid the road of indiscriminately parking of trailers?

Bonus Question:
* Did the FG promulgate a policy to prevent indiscriminate blocking of the highways henceforth?

FG, over to you!

How can federal government based in Abuja become traffic warden in faraway Lagos?

Unitary government system which feeds Abokkki is destroying the south of Nigeria - and fast.

How can Fashola oversee all federal roads in Nigeria?

The time is fulfilled, the Kingdom is at hand, change your hearts and lives and believe the good news.
That if you confess your sins, forsake them and accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, you shall be saved.
Saved from the everlasting fire that is the just sentence for sinners, and receive His free gift which is eternal life.
For this is what the word of God says to you this day!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God be with you.

FRSC collect bribes on those trucks you see. I can't count the number of lives that had been lost by those trucks parking on highway in Sagamu.
Even FRSC certified some rickety trucks to transport fuel and that is why they do cause accident and fire.

Sincerely, I think it's high time Govt places a ban on the importation of anything trucks into Nigeria.

They act like god's on the roads and they are majorly the reason why our roads don't last, let's go back to rail transport.

The FRSC is part of the problem. They have more than enough work to do on these Federal interstate highways but they prefer to park their vehicles in the cities to stop cars going to work or businesses just to ask for particulars. I want to believe that the trailers and trucks settle the FRSC officers because the problem has become a Never Ending Story!

Hope truck parks have been built in different locations for proactive measures. So that you won't solve problem by creating more problems.
Truck parks are not meant to be built by government.
They are meant to be licensed and levied.

Why do these people prefer deceiving themselves and other Nigerians?

Who will enforce the order and how will the trailer owners ever comply? It started like a joke several years in Lagos and government neglected it. It snowballed and turned Apapa and its axis into what it has become today, yet all government orders have been rebuffed by the owners and drivers.

Chief among the reasons why the drivers never comply is that a very huge percentage of the trucks are owned by the same government officials and their friends. The drivers jostle to get jobs to enable them pay the owners. The officials come openly to ask them to leave yet, they allow them stay to return their profits.

In Apapa/Tin can island axis the security officials who should enforce the order take in millions of naira daily extorting the drivers.

Why has Fashola (Mr. Rocket science) not asked Dangote to build terminals in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo and other states where his trucks and drivers have become nuisances? Does Fashola not know that the big men's trucks constitute the bulk of the problems? Can he not approach them and ask them to build terminals? How are we sure that Fashola himself does not have trucks on the roads?

The drivers have become accustomed to the freedom they have and always refuse to relocate.

When will they complete the rail network? I'm sure truck owners will not be happy about it and they'll sabotage every effort to have rail working.
