What criteria do reach in selecting these institutions In my opinion this is not a balanced selection, take a look into the schools name here and cross check with the 6 existing regions the North still took the lead eventhough they're not adequately prepared in education! My advice is that it should be cancelled and reselected to reflect the 2 regions having 2 in the universities. Anything else isn't acceptable.

It is because industries cannot invest in these research outputs. Academia only shares and contribute to knowledge through paper works and patents, nothing more. The problem is industries are afraid to risk their resources and time. Even don't trust anything academics do in this research.

In my observation, we tend to do more in biological science research than physical and chemical science research put together in this country. But the world, today, is going increasingly motivated towards physical science research than any other area. I am not saying that another area isn't researched.

I really feel for the Federal Government of Nigeria. They spend so much to support education and research but have little to nothing in return in area of practical application to growing economy. From TETFund to PTDF, local to abroad scholarship but no result. Why can't knowledge work in our country?

This is a good gesture from tetfund. Over decade Nigeria institution have lamented severely over lack of equipment and dilapidation of existing structure. I believe this time the money will be use for the purpose it budget for. Subsquently, they should define and be very specific on area of research and improvement for the sake of accountability and transparency
