I've read before how bitter cola drives away snakes. Does it really work?

One such post advised farmers to always have some in the pocket that snakes will be running away as you approach. I had doubts but I had hoped this works because I've been living on my farm for months now. The farm is surrounded by bushes and I've been seeing snakes from time to time. I bought several of the nuts and kept on the farm. One day a baby snake was found around a heap of rafter wood. We suspected the mother may be under the heap. My workers wanted to move the heap to look for it. I didn't want someone to get hurt. I asked them to use the bitter cola around the heap hoping it gets out before the next day. By next day the heap was cleared and a big snake was there unhurt and didn't run away. But it didn't look like the young snake we killed. It was killed anyway. The day after another snake that looked like the baby snake was encountered and killed around the same place where we had put the bitter cola.

Does the bitter cola actually do anything to snakes? Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't know about the effect of bitter kola or the nameless cannabis-looking-plant op is selling but if u need strong snake repellent, go get lemon grass, it's popular u can Google it for pictures, plant it around ur farm, hen do build their nest underneath it just to avoid snakes.. U can research more on google

Lol. I have several stands of lemon grass arround the farm based on similar advise. It didn't stop snakes coming in to eat my chicken eggs. .

I was lucky to meet one in the very act swallowing an egg. It ran out when I attacked it and I caught up with it just about 2 meters from a lemon grass stand. That is, it didn't even care to avoid the lemon grass. Lol

Bitter kola no work, lemon grass no work, bross ur village people wan use snakes wreck ur farm ooh.. The citrus chemical produced from lemongrass messes with the sense organ in snakes, they can't sense anything around dem so they avoid locations with lemon grass.. Snakes hunting around lemon grass isn't common.. Another advice is, boil chicken eggs and spread round ur farm, they'll swallow d egg it'll get stuck in dem as they can't break it or regurgitate it, that kills them.. Lemon grass n boiled snake eggs works perfectly against snakes,

The snakes are not that rampant anyway. The eggs I lost before killing the culprit may not be up to 3. I only suspected a missing egg from my noiler birds, then next night I saw a snake swallowing an egg around 1am when I went to check on the birds before going to bed. Before then I'd also seen a particular snake in the chicken pen and it escaped in both instances and was never seen again. Other encounters are mostly outside ones in a while. Sometimes 4 or 6 months may pass without seeing a snake. The farm is surrounded by bushes and palm plantations that are hardly cleared. I even think the number of snakes encountered is less that I should expect. As for village people, they can't try me.

Based on my experience I actually have doubt about lemon grass and the bitter cola. I learned they run away from carbide which I bought once but it looses it's strength too quickly and it's not cost effective or sustainable to continue with that. That's the one I actually have hope that it would work

I have lemon grass. If you read my next post on the thread you'll see it doesn't seem to work either.
I had planted ginger but somehow non survived. I didn't even plant it because of snakes. I actually didn't know it's also considered to drive away snakes.

Use local tobacco plant.
they have wide dull green leaves.
