Dry Season Watermelon Farming With Drip Irrigation System. by HornyTave: 4:35pm On Oct 22, 2020 |
Hey guys. I'll be planting another batch of watermelon this dry season and of course, I'll be using drip irrigation. Watermelon farming is very technical and requires close attention at all times hence many people run away from it. over the years, it has been known as ' Ogbanje ', meaning the survival rate is low compared to other crops. Well, I hope I don't abandon this thread though. ahaha 3 Likes 1 Share |

What's up guys. The topography if my farm is affecting everything. Good news is I've got another land that's more better and sweet. lool. another good news is I'll be starting by December. I hope to share pictures then... There's this guy in my farm area who tried irrigating with hose - Okoroemeka style, and the growth is superb. Dry season farming is the best. walatalai |

Watermelon farming is tricky, and a little mistake could make you loss your investment. I'll be using the following products on my watermelon, Manure, NPK 20 -10-10, NPK 20-20-20, Potassium nitrate, CalMag and MOP. LaraForce Gold and CyperForce as insecticide and Hexaconole, And Fungoforce as fungicide. Watermelon requires a balanced nutritional feeding program for maximum yield. Many people refer to Watermelon as ogbanje crop because a little much water would cause cracking. also insufficient water would also cause cracking. 1 Like |

I'll be using drip spacing of 100cm between plant and 2m in between rows. that means, I'll have 855 stations ( 1710 stand ) of watermelon on my farm. A watermelon plant is expected to produce at least 5 fruits of varying sizes. To have large balls, I'll be pruning. |

HornyTave:if you abandon this thread, I call bandits give you asap...for rainy season cultivation, think of 2.5- 3m spacing btw rows for better results and if you do nursery, you can do 50cm a crop. better results await you sir |

Re: Dry Season Watermelon Farming With Drip Irrigation System. by Attit: 1:39am On Dec 31, 2020 |
ideepaul: If you do not recommend it at commercial level which is the main subject here - for profit, why post rubbish? Varying sizes of worthless quality. People are reading to get educated. You dont need to show your ... 1 Like |

ideepaul:I did not write you are stupid. But your post is rubbish. It is a joke. You know it is a joke too. So why post it? And such joke can make someone else commit suicide after losing his capital. Nigeria is hard. Do not give this OP above a false hope. I hope you are not his consultant who deceived him he can get 5 fruits per plant. In 2021 please, get more serious. I have seen your posts everywhere cos I had to check you. Focus on fewer crops instead of jumping here and there. It will be well with you. |

Re: Dry Season Watermelon Farming With Drip Irrigation System. by ideepaul: 9:21am On Dec 31, 2020 |
Attit:Call me out on nairaland and ask if I have offered consultancy services, and if I have charged anyone a dime for any advice or knowledge shared! The OP made a valid assertion that upto 5 watermelon of varying sizes will be formed , BUT HE SAID HE WILL PRUNE(does pruning not reduce the number of balls per plant automatically?) Maybe fruit split, rot, rodents and the rest may reduce that number again I jump here and there?how many crops have you seen me jumping on commercially? And I should concentrate on fewer crops? Really? Ask the fella if I have offered to guide him on watermelon cultivation? I read here, ask questions here, I accept fair criticism as I don't know all and maybe will never no matter how hard I try, and offer ideas that may sometimes not work for all, but works for me, I am open to correction, but can you say the same of yourself sir, even from your older accounts , I have to admit I have learnt from your deactivated accounts...but please don't be in a haste to paint me in bad light as a consultant or something similar please, I wouldn't like to waste your time, but you made some non specific allegations against my person, maybe you could be a bit more specific....God bless you |

Attit: Lol. 5 fruit per plant is very achievable. the issue is the other 2 will be very small if not aborted .. get a good fertilization program and stop whining |
