XANDERO85:The entire roads/streets in Awka Millennium City has covered drains/sidewalks. They have a batch plant at the site where all the concrete precast are moulded. Even the drainage is precast.

Ebi Egbe the CEO of Monimichelle constructions revealed to the members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter on Thursday during a tour of the ongoing construction of Awka Township stadium that he was chosen to handle the project because the state government led by His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano wants the best for the people of Anambra state. Despite different bidders who bided for the construction of the stadium, Monimichell believed that he was chosen because of his track record of delivering best stadium and pitches across the nation. Describing what is expected from the Monimichelll group after the first phase at Awka, the CEO said that underground cooling system technology will be applied in the pitch construction, this he said is enable the end users ( footballers) to enjoy the smooth and fast flowing of the ball on the pitch. He promised to deliver hybrid grass football pitch which is a friendly playing surface that is guaranteed to last for 12 years. Apart from the football playing pitch an 8-lane IAAF standard track is also expected to be delivered at the end of first phase. In his quote he said “This stadium will be one of the best installation by me in Nigeria, everything we are doing here is with the best technology in the industry, the pitch is all that matters in stadium construction. “We are using hybrid grass of 45 mm shock absorber on zero undulation ground and we expect that it will last between 12 and 14 years with good maintenance culture" more pavilions and grandstand Will be ready on completion of the second phase

I'm more interested in seeing beautification of Onitsha than Awka. |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Rocksvibes234: 10:26pm On Dec 04, 2020 |
For me I love seeing beautification of both Awka and Onitsha. As for Awka, it's the capital city Ikengawo: |

NOW, JUST A LITTLE BIT OF COMMON SENSE, SHOULD TELL US THAT THE DRAINAGE STONE IS NOT A WALK WAY AND PEOPLE SHOULD NOT WALK ON THEM. HOWEVER, WE CAN PLACE PUBLIC BINS ON TOP OF THEM, SPACED OUT.
|
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by hammerDK: 10:42pm On Dec 04, 2020 |
SO, U PLACE A GUARD RAIL TO SEPARATE THE DRAINAGE FROM THE PEDESTRIAN WALK WAY. THE PEDESTRIAN WALK WAY SHOULD BE PAVED WITH DARK GREY CONCRETE.

THESE BINS ARE STREET FURNITURE. THEY PUT THE REAL BIN INSIDE AND DESIGN A SHED FOR IT TO LOOK NICE AND CONPLICATED OUTSIDE. ANAMBRA CAN BUILD THEM.

| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Rocksvibes234: 10:57pm On Dec 04, 2020 |
Go to the construction arena. If you want to be pointing it out go to the site of AMC or visit their director not on nairaland forum because it's pointless and useless, nairaland forum are not the one's constructing or directing the project hammerDK: |

Rocksvibes234:CURB STONE IS NEEDED, TO PROTECT THE DRAINAGE FROM DRIVERS THAT WILL TRY TO MOUNT IT WITH THEIR CAR. U KNOW OUR PEOPLE DRIVING HABBIT. U ALSO KNOW THAT STONE IN FRONT IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH, SO THE WHOLE THING WILL BE DAMAGED.
|
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by hammerDK: 11:34pm On Dec 04, 2020 |
THEY CAN ALSO USE STEET BENCH TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM WALKING ON THE DRAINAGE. WHERE YOU DONT PUT STREET BIN, PUT STREET BENCH. THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WALK ON IT.

Could whoever is responsible for sanitation in Onitsha metropolis look into this issue. They're approaching the issue of sweeping inner streets in a half-hearted manner...to put it mildly. This is why open gutters within the city should be covered, or sunk underground with sidewalks on top! Also, there should be a quick intervention mechanism on newly spotted potholes before they develop into craters like what we're seeing in the clip! On this particular street, there's zero effort at aesthetics and maintaining a neat and clean environment. Clip courtesy BVI Channel 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WowDJPha7i4 |

I will fault ANSG.....this begs the question why is the gutter open in the first place? No where in developed countries you see open gutter gullies....I have really talked on this open gullies and I am tired...you constructed a road and a gutter and you left it open... mediocrity every where. Apparently for our ancestors to close it? |

It's a Nigerian thing, and a vestige of the colonial era! What the colonial gov't wouldn't allow in London, they let slide in the colonies.....probably b'cos they thought we were 'monkeys'.....'savages' and not deserving of the finer things in life like sexy, well constructed streets and highways which comply to global standards of construction! When they left and our thieving, visionless, greedy lot took over, they continued from where their former bosses left off and what you have today as 'normal practice' in urban development is the result! The final blame should be laid at the doorstep of the federal gov't that can't enact laws and standardize road construction nationwide to be in keeping with what global best practise and obtains in civilised societies! Just exasperating! ![]() |

XANDERO85:Oga, No need to panic and start calling Governor as if he didn't know the system already. This method did not start today. It is the irony of always "cleaning" gutters and leaving the trash on the edge of the gutters, then street sweepers and rain dutifully return all the trash back into the gutter. Then the cycle of "cleaning" gutters repeats itself over and over again. You ask yourself WHY the practice of "cleaning" gutters and leaving the trash on the edge of the gutters instead of evacuating them immediately with a truck has not been imbibed in Nigeria? That is why i rarely applaud anyone cleaning gutters and leaving the trash beside the gutter because i know in a day or two, the entire trash will be sent back into the gutter by man or rain. Thus Work done = ZERO. |
