Confused government, talking in the spur of the moment, they told us the border closure was to encourage local production, now they are saying something which is not possible because the terrorist and bandits control our borders in maiduguri, kebbi, zamfara, katsina, sokoto etc.
So all this are voices of a dead man and confused presidency

Southern land borders.

Btw, when is that soon?
Your comment is very unfortunate, all land boarders have been closed since August last year and the FG allowed importation only through water but to our greatest dismay u always give everything wrong interpretation.
We never accused or complained of possible economic sabotage because of the saying that everything should come through water which lead to booming of coastal states' revenue & crippling of Northern states economy due to the closure of boarder.

Northern economy suffers the worst of this boarder closure because Niger, Chad, CAR, Burkina Faso, rely heavily on Northern exports and many commodities are exported from North to Libya, Algeria and Morocco but u have the gut to spit these nonsense allegations that Northern boarders are not closed!
Many smugglers were shot dead, there is seriously intensive boarder drill patrol teams of NIS, DSS, NA & NCS all over boarder states in the North to ensure the compliance with boarder closure. This isn't the first time u made this false and baseless allegation just to mislead ppl in this forum.

Ogbeni, open our borders down south here ! Northern borders were, technically never closed in the first instance. So what the fuk is this tribal bigot talking about ?

Anything to impoverish the Southerners and inflict maximum pains on us is what gives this nepotistic man from katsina some insane joys.

Ogbeni, open our borders here and leave stupid stories for the gods.

One year after the closure of our land borders Nigeria is in recession. The economy is in a miserable state. What then did we achieve by closing the border.

Mate, shut up... Have u gone to the Northern borders to verify if they are closed or not?
Some of you animals just make baseless allegations like radios without batteries.
Provide proof of Ur allegations or shut the furck up

A member of the House of Representative representing Daura/Mai’adua/Sandamu Constituency, Katsina State, Fatuhu Muhammed, has revealed how massive smuggling is still taking place in Daura, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, despite the closure of Nigeria’s land border by the Federal Government.

Muhammed, a nephew of President Buhari, said during plenary last week in Abuja that smuggling is still thriving at the border between Daura and Niger, which is just 13 kilometres away from President Buhari’s private residence.

He spoke on the floor of the lower legislative chamber following the adoption of a motion sponsored by another representative from Katsina, Sada Soli, for the NCS to lift ban on the supply of petroleum products to land border stations within 20 kilometres of Nigerian borders.

The lawmaker, who condemned the unilateral directive by the Comptroller General of Customs to ban the supply of petroleum products within 20 kilometres to the country’s land borders, lamented the hardship people in his constituency and others living in the border communities were going through as a result of the policy.

He said there is need to summon the Customs boss to explain to Nigerians the rationale behind the decision to ban sale of petroleum products within 20 kilometres to the country’s border.

He said, “I was ambushed by the committees in Daura due to the hardship they are facing there as a result of the closure of the border and ban on supply of fuel within 20 kilometres on instruction given by the Customs.

“From Daura to Kongolam, which is the international border, it is just 18 kilometres, in fact from Mr President’s house, even his bedroom to the border is just 13 kilometres. We all know that the borders are closed, but they still allow things to go in and out. I am a living witness to that. A day before yesterday, I was there around 1am, nobody knew, but I saw what they were doing.

it seems dangote is the new government in power now,

how can the whole full country borders be opened for only one man entity to run only his business?

How much does he pay the federal government and how much lives has he ever touched in this great country nigeria,

the northerners will always favour themselves forgeting we the southeners.

This dangote of a guy just needs to be cautioned with all this diabolic means he keeps bribing our governments with.

Buhari is just a puppet when it comes to diplomacy in the hands of dangote.

All other cement companies have been shut down for good just for dangote to strive and flourish in this nigeria.

Who else can challenge him if not been backed fully by the government?

I think its only we the citizens can speak up for this ill treatment and face the fact that dangote is just adding more problems to other good business minded individuals

So we closed our land borders for a whole year just to send a "message" to our neighbours? What message? That we are a little bit crazy?

The government or whatever those people with offices and homes around 3 Arms Zone, Abuja need to show us the data or report of the border closure and the KPIs that informed the closure, pre, during and now that 'a message has been sent' and the borders will be 'open as soon as possible'.

There has to be reasons for the closure.

Is it FX we saved?
Did we have less substandard goods in-country?
Is it more petroleum products supply and petroleum price stability?
Increase in SME's output and lowered unemployment rate?
Did we reduce/stop child and human trafficking?
Was it to manage illegal migration in country?
Was there a reduction in arms and ammunition proliferation?
Did NDLEA record drop in narcotics in and out of the country?
Was there an increase in regional flights by aviation industry?
Did FMCG companies record increased export quantity of finished products?

Funny...he closed Southern borders and actually left the borders designated for smuggling weapons, yet he claims borders are closed to prevent smuggling weapons undecided
