Mannnnn those chewing gum pictures were with me from 1984 to 2001 when my wife burnt them as "useless pictures" thinking they were of no importance to me....(I'm still in mourning)
Anyway...RIP Paolo Rossi... Really entertained us at that world cup!

Actually , we were all shouting " up brazil " like our senior brothers upandan until his ( rossi's ) compelling display forced me to wonder who is this Rossi that wants to ruin our brazil party ? RIP legend .

Brazil was the team to follow until Rossi spoilt the party.
I was so distraught that I woke up from around 3am as if I had I had a nightmare and the pain in heart was the defeat of Brazil. The world cup enthusiasm ended until the semi-final match btw Germany and France.

God , the buzz everywhere before the match . The hype . " up brazil , up brazil " everywhere you go from ishaga to ayilara . my yyoung mind actually thought it is the final ! whisper it , but thosr were the days i thought when your club has performed well in division two , they get promoted to division three , and then four and so on . . . . . grin

Also remember the SHOOT magazine post world cup issue's first page article closing sentence in their ode to the new champions . . . ." ITALIA ! ITALIA ! ! world champions for the third time ! " . Those were the times .

Espana 82, Rossi the legend. I remember this World cup largely through calendars then. Mexico 86 was the 1st World Cup I watched live. RIP Diego Maradona, RIP Pablito.

I never liked Brazil, and West Germany, hence always supporters their opposition. Was very happy when Italy knocked Brazil out in 82, and when Argentina best Brazil in 86 finals. Those Black and White Tv days. grin
