Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has applauded Engineer Ahmed Aliyu Wadada-led PAN Nigeria Limited’s continued strive to improve and expand its products.

The speaker gave the commendation while launching some of the newest products of PAN Nigeria Limited.

The new vehicles to be produced in its Kaduna plant were launched on Sunday during the grand finale of the 2020 Keffi Polo Tournament held at the Keffi Polo Ranch, Nasarawa State.

The vehicles include the Higer H5C 16-seater bus, Higer H6C 19-seater bus, Higer Ambulance, SUVs, Utility Pick-ups and others. They can be optimally used for mass transit, and ambulance services.

He assured the automobile assembler of legislative support. “It is my singular honour on this day to launch these products. Good enough, you continue to expand your products and it is difficult to track how many products you have now.

“I’m impressed with what I have seen and heard and that is why I feel very privileged to launch this product. We’re all for localization, local content and indigenising our own products because it has a lot of gratification for the local economy. We are here to support you and whatever legislative backing you need, you’ll have it.’

Earlier, the chairman of the PAN Nigeria Limited, Engineer Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, said the choice of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila for the inauguration of the PAN’s new products was in tandem with the Speaker’s belief in Nigeria’s project.

“The automotive policy that is yet to be fully made public and that policy made not be brought to bear without being backed by the law. And today, nobody can’t separate you from the law.

“I know for a fact that you believe in Nigeria and you’re committed to the project called Nigeria. So, it is your utmost desire and commitment to see that Nigeria transforms from assembly environment to manufacturing environment and the only way that can be done is to support assembly plants, and PAN is the number assembly plant in Nigeria. So, for you to launch these products is in tandem with your belief and commitment to Nigeria’s project,” Wadada said.

Government officials should stop importation of official vehicles and buy locally assembled vehicles. Gbajamila himself is using Range Rover as official vehicle, others are using Toyota and Lexus. I still don't know why Toyota refused to have an assembling plant here

Good of Pan Nigeria.
The issue if that Nigerians cannot afford their vehicles. This administration has impoverished Nigerians.
Solution, cancel import duties on tokumbo which is what Nigerians can afford.
Mandate federal and state governments to patronise only pan, Innoson and other local vehicle manufacturers.

OP must have been given a brown envelope and for Hon Gbajabiamila to be brandishing PAN as if it's a new era,eh,are we really serious in this Country?
The question that any sensible Nigerian should ask is:
- How much is the Cost of the assembled vehicles in the State? We should ask our Legislatures questions as there,no need of pretending? Why should we claim on Television and Radio, what we are not.
- How many could the Wages of average workers in the country be expended to have just one vehicle?
- Are those vehicles coming through the borders( Cotonou,Kano and Niger Borders) far less expensive.
-why the publicity stunt for a Plant that left Lagos and Nigeria due to- power failure(1970/80) by NEPA/DISCos,Corruption in the strata of the govt structures- has those problems been defeated now because as I'm writing,no light for two days now! It is OFF and ON on daily basis, just as it was in the 70's and 80's,nothing has changed!

How will they come here with harsh economy policy, they are currently setting up a car plant in Ghana am sure Nigeria is their target, Ghana has surepass Nigeria in this year FDI with a very wide margin.

If the government cannot fix the refineries, than they have no chance of building an automobile industry

In the 1980s there were more than 13 auto assembly plants across Nigeria(producing 180k vehicles at its peak) with a supply chain supplying windshield, brake pads, seats and tyres all manufactured in Nigeria.

IBB and Abacha introduction of IMF SAP programme destroyed the industry by opening up the economy to cheap foreign imports. The lack of FX to pay for imported CKD engine and body and works and the failure to complete the aluminium and steel industries to supplement the industry did not help.
