Nigerian Pastors Needs Psychology Classes by Cetacean419: 7:09pm On Dec 15, 2020 |
I was in church on Sunday and I heard a sister had a huge quarrel with her husband. She is always having issues with her husband. What I heard the Pastor said was annoying. He said that he counselled them and they need "prayers". I said to myself"Prayers" ? What has the prayer done? and what sort of counsel? "Mr James listen to your wife and provide for the family. Mrs James stop pestering him about money all the time". Most Pastors don't know how to handle couples. They just quote Bible verses to convince couples but it doesn't work all the time. They need to handle Members as patient in dire need of both Physical,Psychological,Spiritual and Financial assistance not people. NOT ONLY SPIRITUAL. |

Cetacean419:Marriage is more spiritual than physical bro. I am married and I know. I was once ranting like you when I was single until I enter. Haven't you asked yourself, why do people Change as soon as they are married |

It is obvious this Op knows nothing about marriage. What is your issue with what the pastor said? Marriage isn't for most intelligent, neither is it for the richest. Marriage is spiritual, many crises in marriage has spiritual root that only prayer can handle. Stop this your psychology theory because it will fail you when the battle and heat sets in. 2 Likes |

spice123:I know that it is difficult but I am not talking about the Couple's part but the Pastors. Communion in couples is SPIRITUAL but going to meet your Pastor every time and still gives you the Prayer antidote is not always right. You see a couple are obese and always complaining of Health issue, Will you tell them to pray knowing fully well a majority of their problem is tied to their weight or tell them to exercise to drop their weight? |

spice123:There is nothing "Spiritual" about marriage between 2 human beings. Even the wicked marry and experience many of the exact same issues that so-called "spiritual" folks deal with. If the wicked can weather the marriage relationship as humans, why not those who claim to have a relationship with Christ? |

Cetacean419:Jesus Christ never asked any of His followers to act as counsellors to anything, not even those who claim to be married. The only one who is authorized to counsel those who are followers of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of God who indwells each. That said, when it comes to marriage, those involved need to, of their own, seek God of their own. Or better still seek professional help from the professionals out there. When I see so-called pastors pretend themselves marriage counselors, i am immediately reminded of a story from the Gospels. A man had approached Jesus Christ with a family matter, asking Jesus Christ to counsel his brother asking him to give him his share of their father's inheritance. The story can be found in Luke 12. Jesus Christ responded by asking instead " who appointed me Judge or Arbiter between you?" If Jesus Christ never appointed His disciples judges and arbiters between His other followers and their families, who appointed these so-called pastors who pretend to be marriage/family counsellors? 1 Like |
