WHen last did you buy local rice, in fact most of what you buy as foreign is actually local rice, believe it or not.
the last time I ate local rice was two months ago. I bought a quarter bad of local rice and it was stones and stones. I had to give out the remaining one. Foreign rice is still the best

What makes u think nigerians don't eat local rice or do u think it's when buhari became president that nigerians started eating local rice? Is buhari eating local rice? What is d cost of local rice compared to d foreign rice that people were buying b4 border closure? Is it eating foreign rice that is making d currency weak?
Please let me add to your post, Ofada rice was a special delicacy before Buhari became president and it was available at a cheap rate.
Abakaliki rice as also selling because of its unique taste so why force it down the throat of citizens especially when the local rice production and ability to feed the nation has not been and still not sustainable.
GOD bless you for your valid point.

When did rice become staple food in Nigeria. Go and study a bit of history or better still ask your parents.
Cheap rice became our bane, if we love rice so much, then let us begin to farm it and improve it. improvement will not come when we don't encourage investment with patronage. Its simple logic.

Just imagine we allow over dependent on imported rice, and there is an epidemic in Thailand or India, what happens to us, imagine we are at war or diplomatic row with the producers of rice, what happens to us.
No nation succeed if it cannot guarantee local food security for its citizenry. You can say al you like because you dislike the current government, but that will not change facts.
After your grammar, you tell me why a bag of Local Rice rose from 8k to #22-25k for 50kg bag. Did we have war or diplomatic row with local rice producers? We eliminated competition and made them monopoly and they decided to pay us by hoarding rice and hiking up prices.

The way Nigerians love foreign rice is so annoying. When will you guys begin to eat what you farm and farm what you eat. yet you want your currency to be strong. Crazy people.
I should eat a stone filled rice just because I want to patronize Nigerian farmers.

Since the days of Ambode, I have been eating local rice, Lake rice, it was stone free.

In summary, staple food should be subject to duty competiton while Benin Republic feeds her citizens well with lower prices of rice?
For your information, Beninese do not eat foreign imported rice.

The re export 98% of their imports to Nigeria, yes the gullible Nigeria

How many people are in Benin Republic? Perhaps the remaining 2% not exported is enough to feed them. Does anyone import say Yam, potatoes, Garri or even Amala? Why? Because we have enough supply. You do not regulate what you do not produce without causing inflation.

See how your own point is going against you.
You do not even understand yourself neither do you understand my point of argument.

Neither did u comprehend anything from what I asked which is similar to d responses u are getting from other people:

What makes u think nigerians don't eat local rice or do u think it's when buhari became president that nigerians started eating local rice? Is buhari eating local rice? What is d cost of local rice compared to d foreign rice that people were buying b4 border closure? Is it eating foreign rice that is making d currency weak?
u are on point. d idea that imported goods cause d naira 2 b weak, is not true, china pay 4 it when d try it. import & export work hand in hand 4 demand and supply in a good economy, which will increase d spending power of nigerians on both local & foreign goods, & increasing d value of naira

8k plus for broilershuh Wow and I was planning to sell mine for 5k. I need to go and do some research. Although the cause of the increase in price is due to the price of feeds. A bag of finisher that goes for 3500 before is now 5050 naira. It's terrible I must say cry
Strongbest:
Why na? Me wey don dey happy say Chirstmas rice go plenty this December shocked angry

That means even chicken go still cost be that na. Big broiler now sold for 8k plus. Chair! Naija which way na?

But why?

Why do we like lying to ourselves in this country ...u banned rice import yet it floods the market and sold at super high prices u drive inflation and gain absolutely nothing

Rice bought 10 to 12k in Cameron and Benin are sold for 40k in the market ....

Why not all import ...tax it 50% to 100% ...the price of rice would drop to around 25k to 30k ...you can use the revenue gained yo found rice improved seeds development and pesticide research .....in 5 years we can match thailand in yeild ...import would die naturally

Na simple sense but ....
They banned rice, closed borders and then allowed preferred cronnies to be importing rice through hidden borders. Just as was the case with the forex scam, few people from some sections of the land have made billions as a result.

You don't have to use the name "Jesus" for an exclamatory phrase in a political context. There are many exclamatory terms you could use.
