Nigerian Politicians' Convoy In 1999 VS Present (Video, Photos) by Nobody: 6:00pm On Dec 17, 2020
This was the convoy of former Lagos state governor,Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 1999 when he was newly sworn in as governor. The convoy only consisted of Peugeot 505's that was being manufactured in Kaduna state.

Fast forward to the present day when they use the most expensive luxury cars in the market: Mercedes, BMW's, Lexus, Toyota and Range Rover's.

The cost and maintenance of their high end security convoys cost billions of naira and to what end. How does this expenditure benefit the poverty capital of the world..

Do you expect them to ride on donkeys/camels trained in Zamfara to prove otherwise?

Even if you give them 1964 YAMAHA motorcycle as their official ride today, those political thieves will still find a way to live an expensive life by looting massively.

The dividend of democracy. Ogas serving themselves with the luxury of office while a 15 year old dinosaur in Toyota corolla, tokumbo(toks) is worth from #1'750,000-2,200,000 because of the policies of these clowns in power,I mean the ones with the big sticks (governors and the president).
I can't imagined fighting IBB & ABACHA and the entire military juntas only to end up with these set of leaders.
What a shame!

The military convoys when they were ruling was never as expensive or as large as the civilians leaders cry

Look at Musa Yaradua Nigeria's second in command at the time convoy consisting of three Peugeot 504's in 1978.

Thomas Sankara that ruled Burkina Faso sold off the government fleet of Mercedes cars and made the Renault 5 (the cheapest car sold in Burkina Faso at that time) the official service car of all ministers and top government officials.

The country is just a failed state and will not witness any sign of progress as long as the leaders continue to live like kings. How can anyone justify this?

A mere state governor in the poverty capital of the world has a 20 car convoy. America the richest country in the world, Governors use their personal cars or get one official vehicle to move around and call the local police to escort them when they go on official assignments.

Curent UK Prime Minister,Boris Johnson, use to bike to work before he became Prime Minister. Go the United Kingdom or Netherland you won't even know who is a Senator,Governor or House of Parliament member. You can run into them cycling to work,on the train or at a traffic stop.

Why can't we return to the 70's when leaders like Shehu Musa Yardua the second in command used a 5 car convoy of 3 Peugeot 504's,Range Rover and armoured carrier that were affordable? We can't afford to maintain a 20 car convoy for any goverment official and have thousands of police and military protecting politicians, when insecurity is at an all time high.

Not asking for anything new. In the past the second in command to Obasanjo, Shehu Musa Yardua moved in a five car convoy of 504's in the 70's. And Tinubu's convoy in 1999 consisted of Peugeot 504's.

The governor is moving in a 20 car convoy of the most expensive luxury cars in the market. By the time you add the cost of the Deputy Governor,House of Assembly Speaker,Deputy Speaker and Commissioners convoys you will find some states spend billions of naira that could have gone to provide portable water, hospitals and schools, buying luxury cars that only serve a few public servants.
