As I was saying yesterday, this is how bad things have gotten. Now the struggle between a hallowed institution and a dodgy socio-cultural group on who gets the wreath is quite frankly unfortunate..

It is time the military takes a hiatus from the mess. They should stand down for a couple of years and go into full time reform, reorganisation and massive training. If the government cannot elevate the police into an effective law enforcement agency then it should be scrapped. Everywhere in the world the police or Internal Security takes the lead in cases of kidnappings, abductions and hostage negotiations becausemthey are/should be trained and equipped for such expertise.

Just yesterday on another thread on the NIMC/GSM link the issues of security came up for debate. How does the military get involved in the intelligence aspect of hostage rescue when they do not have the tools to track communication. Is this not the purview of the police/interior Ministry that has both the NIMC and the GSM networks under its so here of influence. Who in his sane mind will allow the military snooping around personal data and communications.

We are really misusing and abusing the institutions of this country and the effects are ruinous on all concerned. Both the military and police are getting more damaged by over activity and inactivity respectively when it comes to internal security in Nigeria and it is time for a responsible, cerebral government to put round pegs in round holes. Look at the problem and apply the right institutions to deliver the right service rather than looking at persons, the heads of those institutions involved.

We all know General Buratai is the present goverment"s rock star and the IG may not be so. But this cannot be the reason why the Army is deployed on every single matter of internal security from riots to abductions. It is just wrong and it is killing the police as an institution.

I still wonder why I do not see comments and posts of those anti DJ switch/EndSARS goons on thread like these! Isn't your eloquence, curses and 'patriotism' needed in times like these?

Please we need y'all to be vocal when our government starts acting like clowns. Abi y'all are only programmed to respond when your daily bread is under attack?
