The number 2 question,
To calculate the length...we first need to translate the unit to standard unit..so 14cm becomes 14/100=0.14m..correct.
Also we need to find our proportionality constant that is in “Nm” and that is 4/0.14 which is 29Nm approximately...
Now if a force of 3N is applied the extension e...a new length will surface... The new length will be 3=29E..divide both sides by 29...equals 0.10m...that’s the new length

.... solved , but finding it difficult to attach picture.
a# unstretched length is 11.3333cm
b# length of spring is 13.3333cm
Merry Christmas to all Nairalanders...may Nigeria prosper...

The answers are 23cm and 14cm approximately.

Hard uploading pictures.

A) L1 = 11.33 cm

B) L = 20/1.5 cm = 13.33 cm

Re: Can You Solve This Physics Question? by sureteeboy(m): 11:25am On Dec 25, 2020
cool
11.3cm
13.3cm

Re: Can You Solve This Physics Question? by nnamdi640: 11:49am On Dec 25, 2020
1) F1e2=F2e1
4x4=6xe1
e1= 16/6
e1=2.67cm
Original length= 14- e1 = 14- 2.67
L=11.33cm
2) F=ke
6=4k
K= 6/4 = 1.5 N/cm
Again
F=Ke
3= 1.5e
e= 3/1.5
e=2cm
L= 11.33+2
L=13.33cm.

A) L1 = 11.33 cm

B) L = 131/3 cm
If a force of 4N can cause the string to extend to 14cm,how come a force of 3N will extend it to a value greater than 14cm. I think your second part is not correct.

Look at what I solved. 20/1.5 = 13.33

That 131/3 was a mistake. I was carried away.

Wow....Hooks law, F =Ke
Find k
Find extension e

Original length = new length - extension
