LegendHero:northerners will always get away with some things southerners can not...that was one of father kukah admonition the other day. a southerner can never afford to be nepotistic or clannish.. besides like I said in previous quote of you obj did some things for SW just that there wasn't much publicity for them..the sango ota axis in Ogun state is one example. |

Obasanjo might be an Anambran after all. He has done everything to oppose the progress of the Yorubas.Reason the Hausas brought him from prison to rule knowing fully well that he will always go against the Yorubas.God will judge Obasanjo the OSU claiming to be Yoruba. |

A book was launched on Obasanjo's life today but he failed to attend after promising the author he will attend. He knows journalists will ask him about what Adefuye said |

Obasanjo said so much in those few excerpts from his latest book on the character of the Yoruba . He stated on how Bola Tinubu rose to prominence among some self acclaimed Yoruba elders by simply buying them over and when Tinubiu stopped remitting money to them , they went 180 and started attacking him . What that meant is that there is nothing one can do for these people that will satisfy them. Obasanjo's refusal to lead the charge during the Abacha years for a Yoruba exit from Nigeria also revealed something we all know which is that Obasanjo did not trust them to stick to him in the struggle . This is the sad truth about the entire south. Those who want to lead the fight are always discouraged to do so because they know they will be betrayed by those he is leading. |

sokeril:Yeah, politics is a game of "personal interest" however you cannot, in all honesty, compare Awo's politics of "personal interest" to Obj's, in the development of Yorubaland. |

Ofemannnu:Obasanjo and Fela may be miles apart but there is one thing they know very well about the Yoruba and that is that the Yoruba will only praise and show support to you when they are benefitting directly from you. No single Yoruba elder spoke up when both Obasanjo and Fela were detained in prison. Like Obasanjo, Fela was hated by majority of Yorubas and only readopted when he died. They will do same for Obasanjo just as they did with Abiola. Obasanjo is a very wise man. Being a General is not in any way or form to be rekless. He knew nothing will come out of a struggle by the Yorubas to leave Nigeria other than a big loss. As an Army General, he knows where the strenght of the army is and that is the Awusa Fulani Muslim north and knows very well the Yoruba nation doesn't stand a chance. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:Give an instance where they wholly deserted their leader in the South. Remember everybody in a,family cannot think unanimously especially when they are educated. Followers of Awolowo stuck to him until his demise and even called themselves Awoists after his death. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:When Yorubas want to leave Nigeria, they will leave without breaking a sweat.Yoruba soldiers were the heroes of the civil war and won the war for Nigeria with brawn and brain. |

Ofemannnu:But Awo's undoing came from one of his followers . Was Akintola not in the same camp with Awo before he was enticed by the NPC to weaken Awo's political grip in the western region and federal Parliament ? Have you also forgotten how Yoruba elders goaded Abiola to continue the struggle and remain in prison but were going to Aso Rock to collect scraps from Abacha? Even those in NADECO were feeding fat from Abiola and his friends abroad and only paying lip service to the real agenda. For this reason, as long as Abiola was in detention , they were in business for themselves. Obasanjo knows these people very well. They are like praise singers in an owambe who will shower praises on you and as you begin to spray them they will be insulting you within. Too much money and you be maga, too small and you are a miser.. That is Yoruba politicians and elders for you. |

Ofemannnu:No one is denying the roles played by Yoruba generals and commanders in the civil war but you must understand the men they commanded were not all yorruba but majorly from the middle belt and north. A battle tested General like Obasanjo would have been able to discern which nationality were more gallant of cowardly . |

Ofemannnu:Let me also add here that Yoruba elders where mocking Abiola when Abacha jailed him saying he betrayed Awolowo by supporting Shagari's campaign . They did same for Obasanjo , Diya and one ilorun General that was sentenced to death by Abacha. They said they did not support Abiola and were feeding off Abacha and so can not call for their release. When Obasanjo came out of prison and became the candidate for the PDP, same Yoruba elders said they won't support him and threw their weight on Olu False. Why should Obasanjo give them any attention when his release from prison and ascension to the presidency was not by their doing but purely by the north? |

ChiefJusticeFuc:oh you forgot how igbos have often worked against their brothers that have led to them not producing a president after 60 years of Nigeria existence. You forgot the role certain igbos played that denied Peter obi the vice presidential slot in the last election. You forgot how certain igbos played a significant role that led to Orji uzor to prison. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:Abiola won Elections in Yoruba land with a margin no one have managed to match except baba Awolowo.himself. I remembered Nadeco and those that led it I remembered what led to Opc I clearly remembered those that led a million match in support of Abacha. You can't twist history. |

Iamgrey5:FYI, I am not Igbo. Secondly , if you go through my posts on this thread you will see where I stated that this is not a unique problem to Yorubas but to the south which makes us rudderless since no one is ready to stick his neck out when betrayal is certain. |
| Re: Obasanjo: My 2 Parents Are From Abeokuta, I Bear Owu Tribal Marks by Iamgrey5(m): 9:25pm On Dec 28, 2020 |
ChiefJusticeFuc:Obasanjo was controlling the ibadan division with majority of Yoruba soilders sir The middle belt military men controlled by Northerners were attacking from Enugu end of the war not from the West. |

| Re: Obasanjo: My 2 Parents Are From Abeokuta, I Bear Owu Tribal Marks by ChiefJusticeFuc: 9:29pm On Dec 28, 2020 |
Iamgrey5:Abiola won because IBB backed him and this gave most of the south , MB and even parts of the north to vote for him. It was this endoresment from IBB and a section of the SMC that made people troop out and vote for Abiola. The Igbo did not vote for Abiola for reasons best known to them and I know they played a huge part in the annulment and were heavily invested in the Abacha govt and Also rock court that they can not be counted in any way or form part of the call to return to democratic rule and I also know they went as far as rallying support for Abacha's transition to civil rule. That's their kind of dirty selfish politics. |

| Re: Obasanjo: My 2 Parents Are From Abeokuta, I Bear Owu Tribal Marks by Iamgrey5(m): 9:37pm On Dec 28, 2020 |
ChiefJusticeFuc:Abiola won the Yoruba votes by 3 to 1 which no Yoruba have ever managed in the history apart from Awo himself and 90% of Yorubas both home and abroad fought for him, of course there were those that preferred their stomach but majority of Yorubas fought hard for his mandate Those are well documented history. That was the reason the Northerners themselves ensured Yorubas contested for the election in 1999. AND yes they eventually chose the Yoruba man they felt will protect their interest which was Obasanjo over Falae just like the igbos did. It is still part of democracy and people are allowed to decide who they want to govern them. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:Was there any division in Benin or Ijaw ? Or you don't actually know how the civil war happened. What happened was mission led by Adekunle from Lagos to take back ijaw through the ocean with the help of some local ijaw rebels who were not thrilled about being in Biafra, same thing happened in Benin. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:Truly, yoruba elders and the mainstream true son ofthe soil like myself did taunt Abiola when his fulani friends whom he aligned with to castigate Awo, later throw him in jail. In fact, i laughed so hard, i damned nearly crack a rib when I heard that Abiola's northern friends have eventually killed him in jail. Same was done to Obj and Diya and rightly so. Incidentally, Diya is from my village in Odogbolu but i had no pity for him when his boss, abacha humiliated him and throw him in jail after the former had used the latter to oppress and persecute yorubas, including those from ijebuland. At the time, Diya claimed to be more "nigerian than a yorubaman or even Ijebuman". As for Obj,- it was the same northerners he served so well in his first coming as HOS whereby he rigged power for them in 1979 that later turned round to sling his sorry 'ld a.r.s.e in prison. They were the same one who released him in 1999 to impose him on nigerians as civilian president. Yorubas remembered Obj's servitude is to the fulanis and as such, they rightly rejected him at the polls and in retrospect, they were proven right. In yorubaland, whomever chose to betray the "land" will eventually be consumed by the land- eniti oba dale, ma ba 'le lo, ni. |
