we all know you are not igbo and every elder states man who has vested interest in the federal government would choose to stay aways from the affairs of IPOB but what most Nigerians should know is Nigeria is a failed country and our leaders have failed if they have not failed you wont see them relocating their children abroad not even for school but to reside permanently a lot of them purchase properties outside the country for their family as get away spots whenever there is a problem in Nigeria most politicians have the bulk of their loot abroad as they know very well Nigeria is not as stable as they project it. to the world and to our leaders Nigeria is only a market and serves only as a tool to generate money for private individuals and companies. Nigerians at home however are always to blind to see this as they cling to hope for Nigeria to be better only because its the only way out for them as they dont have the financial muscle to relocate. But the sad truth is the IPOB are the few awake and are not fighting to ruin Nigeria but are fighting to save themselves before the country collapses on them. the only reason the government is attacking them is because is all other states become awake the interests of numerous politicians and foreigners who have been taking advantage of the peoples mediocrity would be in danger therefore they are challenging IPOB not to make Nigeria better but to ensure the status quo of exploitation remains and the country Nigeria is taken advantage of by the powers that be |

WORD. "...................................There are Yorubas of the mentality that if they cannot permanently rule Nigeria, then Nigeria should be broken up in the euphemism of confederacy. They would rather be rulers in hell, if they cannot be rulers in heaven. They are mainly those who see themselves as heirs apparent to (Chief Obafemi) Awolowo. I neither share their philosophy nor their mindset. Some of them contributed to putting Bola Tinubu in power and in spite of largesse of houses in Victoria Island built for them by Bola; they turned against him when the flow of largesses started to dry up. “They are the same people who claimed that I denied being a Yoruba man. I am more Yoruba than all of them. The Ijebus among them must be reminded that the Awujale asserted that they are not from Ife, the cradle of Yorubas but from Wadia. Those who are crying more than the bereaved like Olaniwun Ajayi and Femi Okurounmu are self-centered and lack integrity,...................". |

DuBLINGreenb:Let me guess, you're igbo. Well, we the yoruba care cos this is one of the many lies spread by igbos to sow the seed of disunity among yorubas. How can you Father be igbo and your surname is Onasanjo. Only idiotic people spread and believe this kinda rumour. |

Obasanjo further said he rejected a request by two senior Yoruba retired soldiers to lead the Western Region out of Nigeria, which would be similar to what the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu tried to do for the South-East and failed. My people, the Yorubas, have had a spineless, indecisive, naive and clearly selfish leadership from time immemorial, in the excerpts above General Obasanjo pretty much confirms this. However, Obasanjo is right about one thing, Yoruba leaders are not genuine in their support for restructuring. Infact, I can say Yoruba leaders have never been genuine in their support for restructuring. I am more than certain the day Yorubas stop looking up to their leaders and start asking the right questions is the day Nigeria begins to be a better place. In my view, Awolowo had one opportunity to save us from this mess if he sided or atleast was neutral during the Civil war. I used to think Obasanjo had one opportunity to make things right with Nigeria, I did not know he had two, some may argue three. So it was not enough that this evil monkey of a man rigged the 79 elections in favour of a Fulani lackey. It was not enough that failed to restructure Nigeria during his 99 to 07 tenure. He also failed at seeing how beneficial it would have been to take the SW out of Nigeria. In hindsight, I believe anyone with half a brain can see that "One Nigeria" was always going to be an effort in futility. "One Nigeria" only created the loch ness monster we all are witnessing before our very own eyes: on one hand, an elite so rich, powerful, disconnected from the realities on ground and a people, poor, desolate and powerless to do anything about their own circumstances. This "One Nigeria" is the gift that keeps giving. And it will keep giving until perhaps we all wake up from our slumber to see the hopelessness of our collective situation. |

Not true! Every tribe in Nigeria relies on the Yorubas to speak truth to power, and by extension- fight for them. This is because, these are the only people who speak truth to power, in and out of season. Other tribes are not so lucky as their opinions are mostly tribal and sentimental. Some Yorubas are equally sentimental but are easily able to balance the arguments based on fairness to all and sundry. That is why Yorubas never have shortage of activists, who know their onions and pull much weight in the scheme of things. Kindly check the history of activism for people’s rights in Nigeria, and prove this assertion wrong with receipts if any! ChiefJusticeFuc: |

Iamgrey5:Jakande came close in Lagos. He was flamboyant as well as visionary. He built schools and made basic education free and compulsory. He built mass housing schemes throughout Lagos and built roads to open up badagry and epe. He was planning to build a rail to connect Lagos Island to the mainland until a certain accident called Buhari happened. His main undoing was the Abiola/Abacha saga |

The question about OBJs paternity cum origin cannot be more ridiculous than as we have seen of recent. OBJ irrespective of his paternity lived all his life as a Yoruba. There's no single action that shows any connection between him and the Igbo nation. Though this thread was generated from an excerpt in his book, it's doubtful if there's any different response he will give if asked about it again. My major concern here is to gauge his current level of commitment to this failed Nigeria. While his explanation about being torn between those with whom he fought to keep Nigeria intact and those who would want him to lead a Yoruba seccesion is understandable, I believe that the most certain thing in life is change and such changes are appreciated if it will be for the better of the future generations. A man's past mistake should not hinder him from making an alternate decision if that's the best decision in the present times. This is where Europeans distinguish themselves. They always learn from their mistakes. This Nigeria is dead and it needs to be butchered so those who are progressive can make do what portion they get instead of keeping the carcass together so everything can decay and go to waste. This is where I hope OBJ can make a better name for himself. Nigeria is a dead horse; no amount of whip can bring her to life again. |
