Can you just imagine this
Some people actually went to remove the barricade at night?
Just as they remove aluminum and metals on our highways to go and sell for peanuts, they even go as far as removing mercury on transformers nationwide and come around to complain of darkness!

Some Lagosians/Nigerians are the most stubborn people on the face of earth.
They are preventing and protecting people from dying, but some heady and stubborn animals are here putting people's life in jeopardy.

Na una go still wail and complain if they chose to close it out rightly.
Nigerians sef! undecided
Mr. Silly trying to make sense, is closing it not for the best interest of all or do your familys blood need to be shed before you'll understand the consequence of a faulty bridge ? Oga in as much as you've decided to be a dead zombie please once in a while use some logistics to understand points. #akamu

The menace petrol tankers have done on our road can't really be quantified. I keep asking, we have pipelines all over the place, why can't we use them? Which serious country moves 100% of its petroleum products by road?

Government needs to be alive to their responsibilities. Most bad roads in Nigeria are caused by the carelessness and negligence of these drivers.

Save our lives, save our roads, reduce the movement of heavy duty trucks and petrol tankers on our roads.

What sort of barriers were used. Those flimsy rubber bollards or serious concrete blocks.

Drop half a dozen interlinked, ten ton concrete blocks and no one will get through without a huge crane or forklift.

You guys are jokers, pretending not to know the country you work in.
Re: FG Warns Public Against Using Lagos Airport Road Flyover by Okuda(m): 7:24am On Jan 09, 2021
i would suggest they cap the speed of these tankers to 50km per hr.

[quote author=nonxo007 post=97870627]I don't know if it's illiteracy that is our problem or it's just simply stubbornness. A bridge isn't in it's right shape, government barricaded it for our safety and some unscrupulous elements will go at night to remove the barricade, for what reason?

On the second hand could it be that the government didn't provide an alternative means other than the bridge ?

Another means from way?
Is it from your sitting room or what?
The bridge has been barricaded for the safety of the people till when it's reconstructed and you're asking for any means maybe you should provide any means since we can't hear what

That is the responsibility of MOT. The FMW should liaise with them and open a new desk or establish a joint taskforce for articulated and heavy duty vehicles to nip this cancer in the bud.

And I mean not just chasing them around the streets but starting from the point if importation and registration of these trucks to certification for repairs and maintenance in designated auto shops before they can enter the premises of ports and depots.

The pavement that we have spent a lot of money, up to 200 meters – have been affected; that will cost a lot of money,” he said.

Popoola noted that the ministry had been working in collaboration with Lagos State Government to tackle trucks’ menace and other infractions affecting road infrastructure.

The Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye, said that the state government, through its Ministry of Transportation, would embark on strict enforcement of road worthiness regulation.

She told NAN that the government’s agents would begin to enter depots and loading bays for petrol tankers to ensure that those not road worthy would not lift petroleum products.

Just hear these M0r0ns!
It is the cost of repairing 200M of Bridge that is not making them shout but when these Rickety Trucks and Trailers were causing accidents and taking the lives of Nigerians, dem nor fit shout!
When these Dangotte type of trucks were driving up and down, the FRSC, VIO, Police, etc did not see them to arrest them as not being Road Worthy, because the life of Nigerians dont mean anything to you Govt officials and most of you are the Owners of the blood-sucking trucks, anyway.

Nonsense loading.

Who knows, both the Nigerian government and the Nigerian people are part of the problems Nigeria is facing.

Exactly my thoughts too.
Government should tell motorists about alternative routes, such as the Mushin-Isolo bridge, then taking the two way service lane in front of Afprint, passing through the Emzor Pharmaceutical road to Osolo way, then bursting out on the Airport Road and making a U-turn on the newly constructed bridge which will lead you directly to the Airport.
Directional road signs need to be erected as far away as the Iyana Itire and Ilasa bus stops and around the Mushin- Isolo road (on both sides) to warn motorists about this diversion.

Are you even sure that fire wasn't set intentionally?

Do you know how much and how long it took dangote to fix that road and bridge ?

So people in Nigeria are just plain evil

Chairman, see this life eh you need to take things easy. Did you read my comment at all? If a bridge is closed by the government, what is the next thing the government is supposed to do? Isn't it to give motorist and pedestrian an alternative route to the same place the bridge would lead to ? Oga don't allow suffering imposed on us by the government to look like a everyday thing. Try gather money travel abroad make you see life they live out there, you mentality go change.

That is just the sane thing to do. If a route is blocked alternatives should be created.
