please who else has noticed that the country has been on a very speedy reverse gear courtesy of bad leaders and followers. Every story about Nigeria was better at the beginning but worse at the present.

Lectures on why they cannot produce anything.
What then is the use of your office other than to collect salaries?

Actually, it is NOT the job of the government to produce vaccines.

Pfizer, Astra-Zeneca, and other manufacturers are not government owned, but private enitities.

It is up to the private sector, IE YOU, AND ALL THE IGNORANT, STUPID, DUMB CRITICS HERE, to start firms that research and develop vaccines.

It is NOT the job of the government.

It is YOUR job.

Undoubtedly

Garbage. For you information, Nigerian-trained professors, scientists, and doctors work and lecture all over the world, many in elite institutions.

Now shut up and go study medicine and become a vaccine researcher if that is what you fancy.

Look at you. Stupid mumu. Nigerians are building FAR MORE COMPLEX STUFF THAN ''TOOTHPICKS''. They build cars, SUVs, buses, trucks, armoured personnel carriers, and manufacture a variety of products from chemicals to paint to pharmaceuticals to motor spare parts.

That is why we have thousands of factories all over the country, NONE of which your lazy, school dropout self has ever stepped foot in.

So SHUT UP YOUR STINKING LIPS, and go contribute YOURS by setting up a toothpick factory if you think there Is demand for that.

The countries that are producing vaccines have governments that have spent a lot of money to support the research, development, production and distribution of vaccines by the pharma industry. It is the government's job to ensure that research is carried out by funding it. Citizens pay their taxes for the government to manage tax payer's money for the collective good, in this case to protect life.

How can government fund what does not exist?

Have YOU opened a vaccine research firm and sought out govt funding, and then been refused?

If so, then YOU can complain.

If you have not done that, then there is nothing to blame the government about.

Pfizer did not receive any government funding. They are just a private firm set up a century and half ago by some pharmacist guy and his son, which grew to the giant they are today.

THEY WERE NOT FUNDED BY THE US GOVT.

Everyday, government this, government that.

Until you people get your heads out of the government's ass, and become innovative, creative, and do things for yourselves, you will get nowhere as a people.

The man that set up Pfizer did not get A SINGLE CENT of US government money. He just started a small firm a century and half ago, and included a bit of research and development in his activities. He had no idea that the firm would grow into the giant it is today. He just believed in himself and took a chance, in 1849, when America was nothing.

He grew it, and then his children took over, then THEIR children took over, and they've become so big today that whole countries are demanding their products.

Here in Nigeria, the people are waiting on GOVERNMENT to help them brush their teeth in the morning.

See that? ''Illiterate president''.

But YOU cannot stand to be insulted.

You are an animal with foam where your brain ought to be.

Don't use your brain to do something useful with your life, you hear?

"Failed process
A 2017 report published by PREMIUM TIMES revealed how the Yaba Vaccine Production Laboratory was not functional.

The vaccine production centre was active for about six decades, between 1940 and 1991, producing large quantities of vaccines against smallpox, rabies, yellow fever for not only Nigeria, but neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Central Africa and a few other countries in Africa.

It was closed in 1991 by the federal government who said it wanted to reactivate and upgrade the facility. But that upgrade has not been done"

Obviously reading and compreheding is not a verture you have. As they say common sense is not common.

Since according to you it is not the job of government to research and produce vassine, why was the Yaba vaccine production laboratory built? Why was it closed in 1991 by fgn, who further wanted to upgrade and reactivate the agency, but was never done? Why? Afterall according to you, it is not the job of government to research and produce vaccines.

Sinopharm, a Chinese state-owned company, is developing two Covid-19 vaccines, which, like Sinovac are also inactivated vaccines that work in a similar way.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-asia-china-55212787

ETC.

The fact that private pharmaceutical in capitalist western countries make vaccines does not mean the generality of other countries such as Nigeria do not have government owned vaccine research
and production facilities. Who's primary responsibility is healthcare of citizens? Government or companies?

Of course what comes naturally to silly uncouth people like you is to pour insults out of naked ignorance. Celebrating your stupidity in public like you won an award.

Olodo rabata.

Look at him pulling examples from China, Cuba, and Russia.

Communist countries!

Was that because you couldn't find any CAPITALIST nations like Nigeria where the government is manufacturing vaccines?

Of course it is!

In capitalist nations, the PRIVATE SECTOR manufactures drugs and vaccines.

Just because the Nigerian govt ventured into it in early years DOES NOT MEAN IT IS THEIR JOB, any more than my bending down to tie your shoe laces to stop you tripping over them when you were a toddler, means it is my job to do the same for you in your adulthood.

So grow up, set up a firm that is useful to society, and CONTRIBUTE, instead of waiting for the government to tie your laces.
