Retired Military Veterans are protesting in Abuja according to Channels TV Twitter handle.

Ahead of the Armed forces Remembrance day, retired veterans that have served the Nigerian Arm forces are protesting in Abuja over their pension arrears.

The ex sevice men are appealing to the federal government to approve the payment of minimum wage arrears accuring to them between 2019 till date.

They are demanding the inclusion of officers who fought during the civil war on the military pension scheme.

A representative of the retired soldiers Anthony Agbas who dilivered a letter to officials at the ministry of finance told Channels TV that they have fought for the country and deserve payment of their entitlement such as the debarment allowances that have been approved since 2015, and not all veterans who retired by then
were not paid.

The federal government should look into this and comply because this will discourage those that are still serving and it is not a good way to reward retired veterans after their years of serving their father land

Every Remembrance Day of the year that is supposed to be used to celebrate is used to protest in this country.

It is a shame

what ever goes up must surely come down, hot tea would later become cold, nothing is permanent in life.

the moral lesson is what I read some post for, these soldiers were agile men of the past who spent their youths serving their pockets and nation at the same time.

today they are weak and venerable. they are now part of the civilian population. please don't burn the ladder because you may need it on your way down

Hahahahahahahahah. MUGWUS!

You people don't fully understand the Northerner mindset. The North runs what I term Almajiric-Feudalism. The Almajiris are at the lowest rank; it's a pyramid system. In fact, na MMM style. The typical Northerner is purposely stripped off education and enlightenment, while brainwashing him with Islamic ear-tickling fantasies and strange doctrines (e.g. destined to be poor).

The years of weaponised ignorance against the populace of the North (mainly Hausas and Fulanis) for generations is what makes them argue or reason in such a way that will leave you bewildered. That is why you'll see them own only a mat and a T.V and he will say glory to Allah. Don't blame him; he's been defeated already by childhood weaponised ignorance.

How does it relate with this? Well, if you're the observant type, you'll observe something: the Nigerian (Fulani) government is gradually turning everyone into Almajiris, not just the North. They make you beg for everything. The moment you have to go to Sokoto and kneel and beg before becoming a governor, you're already an Almajiri. If you have to beg before you're paid your salaries; what separates you from the Almajiri up north?

Idiots cahooting with the Oligarchy, begging for presidency as if their lives depend on it? Pure almajirism.
Look at these ones naw: retired war soldiers begging for their retiree benefits. Again, what separates these ones from Almajiri? Begging the silly government for them to open your own borders in the south. Is this not the height of Almajirism?

SOUTH, YOU ARE TURNING TO ALMAJIRIS RIGHT BEFORE YOUR VERY OWN EYES WITHOUT EVEN REALISING IT.

No, we shouldn't joke with the entitlements of our patriotic and gallant soldiers! President Muhammadu Buhari should do something urgently about this. I am sure he's already working on the matter as I type this - he's the most proactive person I have ever seen.

The kind of love I have for soldiers eh.. I can sacrifice my life for them!

May God Almighty bless and protect them as they risk their lives to protect ours. Amen!

Nigeria is blessed!

Lesson to those still in service
You shoot unarmed protesters and abuse civilians anyhow, in the end the government will still abandon you to suffer at old age.
