Good morning everyone, I'm in 100lvl currently studying accounting in one of the state universities in Nigeria. I'm planning to start my ican program in may so that I can write the September diet but I'm confused if I should go for it or not because of the unemployment in the country. I don't want to waste money and time. I'm also thinking if I should divert the energy and money in learning a skill.

Pls I need your advise and pls what do you think are the benefits of Ican.

Don't go for ican yet, finish your degree program, then apply for ican with ur degree result.(bsc). when you apply with your degree you start from a higher lever than when you apply as an 100 level student.

at the end it saves u time and money.

If u are sure of a clearly defined career path in the financial sector after graduation go for it. It is too early though why not wait till 300l or final year?

What do I mean, there are graduates that have graduated from the university for over 10 years that have not been able to secure employment in the course they read!

Not because they are not passionate about the course, even with their high grades, but because they did not have connection or mentors who are established members of their proffession. This number is rising.

Do you have strong fantastic connections/network? If Otherwise u better go and learn a skill.

It is better to have it at hand than nothing.

Remember this certification is originally for people that are already working or have work experience and want to pursue a career or climb higher in the financial sector. Why not wait till final year.

Since u are complaining of finance learn a skill first.

Go and get a skill I beg you will in the name of God.

By the time you are done with your degree and you have mastered a skill very well, getting a job is a plus for you and by then you can start asking about ican

I developed cold feet during my induction when one of the protocols said we should go and learn trade or skill
He didn't even mention establishing an accounting firm

The truth is there are jobs but not enough to go round so help yourself and plan to engage yourself.
