Well, I keep on saying it that a lot of nairalanders are not knowledgeable enough smiley and they keep proving me right.

The girl is most likely a numismatist That is, she collects currency notes and coins from different parts of the world and she is probably just thrilled that she has landed a new one from a country very far away from hers whilst at the same time showing it off to her fellow numismatists online.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the intrinsic value of the currency note. She is just a currency note/coins collector.

It makes her happy that she has landed a rare new one. I get that feeling too sometimes because my father introduced me to the hobby and I began to enjoy it as well. Personally, I collect mostly coins. I have a 1982 World Cup coin from Spain in my possession and one from India- a 5 Paisa coin(100 paise=100 Indian Rupees by the way).

It's an interesting hobby. The thrill is in collecting as many notes as possible and worrying less about the value because you are not purchasing anything with it but I am afraid that it is not so popular amongst these yahoos called Nigerians.

Hey, OP, please ask your Brazilian friend if she is a numismatist and there is a 9/10 chance that she will confirm as much.

Word up. #ProudNumismatist cool

*the love runs so deep that sometimes some numismatists pay huge sums of money to collect these old coins or notes. The most expensive coin right now is worth over 10 million dollars. That's how crazy our hobby is. My father even bought a Biafran coin from a friend of his- an easterner. About #70 in those days smiley

One must not prove his/her intelligence by calling others illiterate simply because he/she is more knowledgable in an area.

Sorry sir, I get your point but the fact that I posted all that jargon up there does not mean that I am more knowledgeable in that field or something.

But then you will agree with me here that the ignorance on display here on NL every bloody time can make a man lose his bloody mind.

I hate ignorance. But I find it most loathsome it the most when it is undisguised. I hope you see things from my point of view.

Well... I have edited my post. I must admit that I posted what I did back then in utter disgust.

I am not all that intelligent. Far from it. But still I detest unconcealed ignorance.
