God only hates lies against him. These are instances where God himself promoted lies according tothe Bible;

1. When God told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate of the fruit.
2. When Abraham lied that Sarah was his sister and not his wife.
3. When Moses told pharaoh he only wanted his people to worship him for few days when his plan was to liberate them.
4. When God hmself sent a lying spirit to deceive the king.
5. When Rahab lied to hide the spies from Israel.

Just to mention a few. Of course bible references will be provided upon demand.

"43Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you are unable to accept My message.
44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
45But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me!
"
- John 8:44

One of the reasons is because the father of lies is the devil

"1Now the serpenta was more crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ ”
2The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden,
3but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’ ”
4“You will not surely die,” the serpent told her.
5“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

- Genesis 3:1-5

The first lie in the Bible isnt the lie the serpent told Eve, at Genesis 3:4-5, but actually was the lie Adam told his wife, Eve for her to repeat at Genesis 3:3.

Now though this was a blatant lie but it wasn't held against Adam because there wasn't a malicious intent behind the lie, same as there weren't any behind when Abraham lied that Sarah was his sister and not his wife, when Moses told Pharaoh he only wanted his people to worship him for few days when his plan was to liberate them, when God Himself allowed a willing lying spirit to deceive the king or when Rahab lied to hide the spies from Israel, unlike the evil intentioned lie the serpent told Eve

Which lie did Adam tell Eve? Gen 2:17 it was God who said they'd die from eating the fruit.

After eating did they still die?

Communication especially report is like that. Can't blame Adam from r the touch.

But how can you explain that they did not die even though God said they'd die?

And pl don't say it was a spiritual death. The body bible never mentioned such.

You don't underestimate God's creation! Adam was a celestial body before eating the accursed fruit... The fruit made Adam and his progeny weak and liable to die

After eating they began to die, just as God did say will happen if/when they chose to eat of the fruit off the TKGE

Myer:

No one said Adam was at blame for embellishing God's word nor has anyone wanted to have Adam held liable for telling that lie

Myer:
But how can you explain that they did not die even though God said they'd die?
Their mortality clock sprang to life the minute they took a bite of the fruit, then started tick tock, tick tock counting and winding down, until 960 years later that Adam finally gave up the ghost and physically died.

Death, in the simplest form is separation from God. God is a Spirit, and we require spiritual connection, using our spiritual antenna, to connect to the spiritual mast that transmits signals from God. The first thing that died on A&E were their spiritual antenna, causing them to lost lose signal and of course, connection with the spiritual mast that transmits signals from God. They realised immediately they have been separated from God (i.e. lost connection) .... I'll pause at this point because we'll be going into information overload terrain, lmso

@petra/1, @living/christ and particularly @EFULEFU/1

You should be familiar of this ''You surely will not die!'' ''grain/straw and stick'' or '''chicken/fish and bone'' Genesis 3:4 message to Eve:
Is the Genesis 3:4 message, an absolute truth or a pseudo truth statement?

Since after the fall from grace to grass, and from that moment on, we are born, our mortality (i.e. the state of being subject to death) clock, starts to tick down.

The Hebrew words "muth, muth", used in Genesis 2:17 above, often as equally seen above, is usually translated as "surely die" or literally, as "you will certainly die" when actually, in a Hebraic manner of speaking, it correctly, indicates the sense and understanding of beginning of dying.

"Muth, muth," in fact, conveys a meaning of and gives, an awareness of entered death (i.e. have a sense of gradual or slow death starting), hence why and how, it is, we die by the second, we are in fact, slowly dying. It will interest you to know that, one million cells in your body, die every second. That means in one day, approximately 1.2 kg of cells in your body dies. We surely are dying, unlike not surely die, as what the serpent would want Eve to believe

@EFULEFU/1, where lies the serpent's deception in Genesis 3:4-5 &/or 22, is that, the serpent failed to admit that, eating of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, points in the direction of death, (i.e. to die) as that is what "surely die" means.

To die, (i.e. "muth, muth'') is the result, for eating, off the TKGE and so, slowly but surely, Adam and Eve did approach death, unlike the lie fashioned by the crafty serpent and sold to Eve.

@petra/1 & @living/christ, God wasn't explicit, about the kind of death, He was talking off, so petra/1 now saying "God was talking about spiritual death" is sheer outright eisegesis with bells on.

Spiritual death, is instantaneous. It occurs immediately, whereas, physical death, though the process has started, it is delayed. It is slow, its dragged out and often is over a long time period, lmso.

Physical death, often continues on, over a long time before eventually one finally once and for all, drops dead or sleep and die, lmso. Adam lived to be 930 years old, before the grim reaper finally caught up and came knocking on his door
My response to "... pl don't say it was a spiritual death. The body bible never mentioned such" is contained in the immediate above quote of mine brought here from another thread, lmso

Before Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden, there was no reason to lie because they're both like one flesh and worshiping God with one line of thought, but when Satan introduced the first lie humans began telling lies to one another.

In the midst of God's own people he made them realise that lying originates with the DEVIL so they should always speak the truth amongst themselves! John 8:44
Outside amongst unbelievers lying is normal so you can lie (even as a believer) after all their laws doesn't forbids lying. But you must not lie to your brother in the FAITH {Matthew 5:37} because God takes what's happening between his children seriously, his law regarding lie remains within the house of faith.

When you're out there dealing with unbelievers who don't value the truth, you can make use of their instrument to get out of their troubles. But when you're with your brothers in the house of FAITH you may die for lying to them! Act 5:1-11

And as for the day God spoke about regarding the eating of the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve died that same day because they never lived up to a thousand years which is the full equivalent of a day before God! 2Peter 3:8

25Rahab the prostitute is another example.
She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers

"1Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim, saying, “Go, inspect the land, especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
2And it was reported to the king of Jericho: “Behold, some men of Israel have come here tonight to spy out the land.”
3So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab and said, “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they have come to spy out the whole land.”
4But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, “Yes, the men did come to me, but I did not know where they had come from.
5At dusk, when the gate was about to close, the men went out, and I do not know which way they went. Pursue them quickly, and you may catch them!”
6(But Rahab had taken them up to the roof and hidden them among the stalks of flax that she had laid out there.)
7So the king’s men set out in pursuit of the spies along the road to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as they had gone out, the gate was shut.
8Before the spies lay down for the night, Rahab went up on the roof
9and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given you this land and that the fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who dwell in the land are melting in fear of you.
10For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Seab before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction.
11When we heard this, our hearts melted and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in the heavens above and on the earth below.
12Now therefore, please swear to me by the LORD that you will indeed show kindness to my family, because I showed kindness to you. Give me a sure sign
13that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them, and that you will deliver us from death.”
14“Our lives for your lives!” the men agreed. “If you do not report our mission, we will show you kindness and faithfulness when the LORD gives us the land.”
15Then Rahab let them down by a rope through the window, since the house where she lived was built into the wall of the city.
16“Go to the hill country,” she said, “so that your pursuers will not find you. Hide yourselves there for three days until they have returned; then go on your way.”
17The men said to her, “We will not be bound by this oath you made us swear
18unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother and brothers and all your family into your house.
19If anyone goes out the door of your house into the street, his blood will be on his own head, and we will be innocent. But if a hand is laid on anyone with you in the house, his blood will be on our heads.
20And if you report our mission, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.”
21“Let it be as you say,” she replied, and she sent them away. And when they had gone, she tied the scarlet cord in the window.
22So the spies went out into the hill country and stayed there three days, until their pursuers had returned without finding them, having searched all along the road.
23Then the two men started back, came down from the hill country, and crossed the river. So they came to Joshua son of Nun and reported all that had happened to them.
24“The LORD has surely delivered the entire land into our hands,” they said to Joshua. “Indeed, all who dwell in the land are melting in fear of us.

@Myer, just as CodeTemplar had correctly chastised Omooba77 for saying "You are good scholar!" to you, I bring to you attention, that God had never instigated nor got anyone to lie. All that have lied in scripture, had done so willingly, voluntarily, at their own volition and/or by their own choice. Furthermore, CodeTemplar is correct, in that Rahab was justified by her faith, which is belief in Yahweh, being the God in the heavens above and on the earth below, who saves et cetera

Now, Myer, I wont give in to your assertion that "God only hates lies against Him ..." because its not only lies against Him He hates but its making false witness against fellow human beings He hates too

I also have objection to your other assertion, that "....These are instances where God Himself promoted lies according to the Bible" because permitting/allowing a lie to pass and/or letting someone, do something, like tell a lie et cetera, isnt necessarily promoting the lie. For example, you stepping aside for a rolling big boulder stone come down a hill/cliff/mountain doesnt means you allowed or caused the big boulder stone to roll and/or be rolling down the hill/cliff/mountain, but it means, you watched the big boulder stone begin to roll and let it, in an unhindered manner, roll finish and come to rest.

Here is the bottom line, and it is, God hates untrue statement(s) (i.e. lies) made with intent to harm, intent to cause physical injury, purposely said to slander or defame, to badmouth, said to chase clout with et cetera

Proverbs 6:16-18 (KJV)

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

Clearly, He hates those things because:

1). the character of God is completely and utterly 1000 percent the exact opposite of the character of the person who engages in this type of behavior

2). the horrific & often times lifelong irreversible results that occur when one does engage.

Look at the results of "lying, dishonesty, deception etc.,"
Look at what is does to people's character.

God is a God of care, compassion and righteous judgement..and who doesn't engage in those things...(in this specific case lying).
There is a great controversy between "good" and "evil". If God hates and cannot engage in those things (because He is good=holy, then apparently the evil one =unholiness who does represent those things...can....)

The distinction has to be clearly defined.
It is God's character which is on the line...and being questioned.
Just as it is and will be for those who choose to surrender to Him in spirit and truth.
Best believe that persecution will definitely come to those who truly strive for the character of God..the fruits of the spirit.
Those who sincerely are trying to live a holy, righteous life.
