Well I didn't see Mata dropping off stats-wise so badly but I saw Manure dropping off as I said that Manure were already being overrun in midfield due to Carrick and Fellainis lack of legs, and adding Mata to the midfield will only compound the problem. He could have done better there if they had 2 solid DMs to guard him. Instead what we saw was Mata trying fruitlessly to work hard as no one could cover for him, thereby losing the luxury to focus on attacking play and his numbers dropped significantly, and he never recovered his attacking spark after that.
