Good evening to everyone. Pls I need a quick professional response on my matter. My uncle wants to start his project in Abeokuta on Monday. His site has been cleared and foundation is to commence on Monday. He just funded his daughter's wedding last Saturday so he's not too boxed up, but he still insist on starting with one loose fund of #2.5million. The problem is the engineer in charge is insisting on 3Million as indicated on the BOQ prepared by him, then an additional 5% of 3Million as the engineer's fee. Labour alone is 550k excluding engineer's fee. It's a plot of land with very hard/dry soil in Abeokuta. The plan is strip foundation of 3bedroom up and 3bedroom down. That's just a storey building. segzyfunmi:Best way is for your uncle to procure the materials himself, while the engineer handles labour. |

Thanks for your reply but is the labour of 550k not too high? 550k + Engineer's 5% = 700k Is this 700k labour + supervision not too high for a strip foundation on a hard soil?? |

Your own option is even higher.... 730k We're of the opinion that the whole money for labour + Engineer's fee should be between 500 - 600k. |

You saidbthe ground is hard and also you van be on ground to supervise it also. So no one is cheating here. But the engineer fee is it just foundation or to take it to DPC. You have to know his deal first. Cosy of materials is on the high side and also that amount can take you to decking if spend well. Me am in benin city. You can text for more inform |

How ever let the Engr give you the quantity of material needed for the project. Does his fee cover from sub structure to super structure? If yes then the his price is fair enough. |

forex24:Engineer's job is to supervise the Carpenter, Mason, iron bender etc to DPC level. My question remains the same pls. Is 700k not too much for labour and supervision?? |
