It’s no duty of the Armed Forces to defend a country’s democracy. Stop your poor education you are impacting on your successors in the armed forces.

Democracy is defended by democratic institutions and internal mechanisms of a just democratic process; whereas the armed forces protect the territorial integrity of a country.


Nigeria’s democracy is a farce, that’s why you think you are using force to protect it.

That must have been the time Obasanjo and TY Danjuma, his minister of defence, purged the military of coupists. Obasanjo retired all military men back then who had held a political appointment. Buratai probably was a military assistant or ADC to a senior officer who was in a political position when the military was in power. So many officers' career was cut short back then. I remember Brig-Gen Agbofa saying he was in tears when Obj retired him after he served as principal secretary to Abdulsalam Abubakar. He said it was his dream to become a Maj-Gen and head the Signal corps. Buratai was lucky. From being nearly retired as a middle -ranked officer to climbing up the career ladder to head the Army. Some much more brilliant and gallant officers than him didn't get this chance.

But Obasanjo failed to restructure Nigeria politically, away from the present roguish 19 states and Abuja in one northern region, but only 17 states in the two southern regions.

The roguish political structure enables Arewa own Nigeria and tell us Nigeria is a democracy, whereas, what we have is a false democracy controlled by Arewa through undue large political over-representation at the central government.

that is one of the blind things obj did due to selfish interest.

obj retired most of the middle belt soldiers from the army cos of fear of coup and left hausa and fulani in charge of the army. but, look at the result today.

fulani is no longer scared cos they are fully in charge of the army and govt generally.

the middle beltans were the real checks and balance of the army then. but, obj goofed badly.

he sold the army and the country in general to fulani. what a man!

the civil service was not spared. obj retired most of the southerners in civil service and left hausa and fulani to be in charge. the south is their own problem. weak,myopic and selfish leaders
