You're no longer bulding skyscrapers because the boers(colonies) are now leaving your country.

Kenya is bulding skyscrapers and other modern lowrise cities like konza, tatu, kizingo, railway city.. Etc.

It's time for a black ridden economy to dominate.
Dead like a dodo grin some died in the drawing board other survived that but slaughtered on site grin

South Africa is the world's most unequal country. 25 years of freedom have failed to bridge the divide

(CNN)More than two decades have passed since South Africa overhauled a racist regime designed to keep the country's black population under the thumb of an elite white minority.

But while democracy has delivered freedom for all South Africans, not enough has changed for those living in the country's vast townships.

In fact, despite 25 years of democracy, South Africa remains the most economically unequal country in the world, according to the World Bank. If anything, the rainbow nation is even more divided now than it was in 1994.

In South Africa, the divide between rich and poor is visible from the sky. On the left is Bloubusrand in Johannesburg, a middle class area with larger houses and pools. On the right is Kya Sands informal settlement.

In many ways, the legacy of apartheid endures. Previously disadvantaged South Africans hold fewer assets, have fewer skills, earn lower wages, and are still more likely to be unemployed, a 2018 World Bank report on poverty and inequality in South Africa found.

And, at the other end of the spectrum, an elite, mainly white minority continues to thrive.

While the African National Congress (ANC) is set to win just over 57% of the national vote, it faces an increasingly disillusioned electorate.

The gap between rich and poor is wider in South Africa than in any other country where comparable data exist, the World Bank found.

Mthandazo Ndlovu, Oxfam South Africa's democracy and governance manager, say inequality has been exacerbated as a result of "systemic failures at a government level."

It's not just income inequality that is cause for concern, he adds, but also unequal access to opportunities and essential public services.

"One would have assumed that 25 years into democracy we would have had better access to land, better access to health care, we would not have children falling into pit latrines due to failures in the provision of ablution facilities," he said.

Read: Land was stolen under apartheid. It still hasn't been given back

This is not to say the government hasn't made significant strides in leveling the playing field, he added. Access to basic services such as electricity, water, education and health care has improved considerably since the ANC came into power, according to the World Bank report.

But a fraction of the population still enjoys the lion's share of the spoils while the rest struggle to make ends meet .

South Africa's richest households are almost 10 times wealthier than poor households, according to World Bank estimates.

"If you look at the number of people who sleep on an empty stomach, these numbers are quite shocking," adds Ndlovu.

You know why I got triggered , becz I am close to this issue , rhino population due to poaching for their horns has put them into near extinction.

We barely managed to save ours , authority to shoot on sight in my country is very restricted , after lot of pressure by us it was removed for forest guards guarding the rhinos . ( Even if one wants to shoot a terrorists one is limited by op rules )

Fuccking BBC made a lot of noise because of this , had their team thrown out of the country , guess where their interests lies ba*tards .

Anyways we tried cutting off horns it doesn't not work , the rhinos suffer psychologically , their behaviour changes for worse.

There are barely few rhinos left around the world, starting to sell harvested horns even without killing the rhinos will fuel the demand from the morons in china , next they will conjure miracle medicines for other rhino parts , illegal poaching would then increase dramatically.

After demand increases You might be able to protect rhinos to some extent , but is it possible elsewhere in African and Asia ? No

There are billions of humans ver few thousand rhinos left , how many human poachers will u kill to stop them ?

To think of tangible economic benifits by putting into risk few remaining rhinos is a insult on us humans . It is blood money.
I must disagree with you there! Rhinos are animals-this anthropomorphication, the projection of human like qualities, cuteness, smartness etc,etc interferes with proper wildlife management. Every country allows regulated hunting: here because of high volume NGO noisemakers a childlike mentality sabotages our wildlife management. Btw,when numbers get too high for the carrying capacity of an area guess what the KWS does? They cull!
A single carved tusk with this quality of workmanship can easily fetch 0.5 mn $ on global markets while we're burning ours for the likes of gay busy bodies and their local professional idler cadres. Imagine the loss from the 15 T burn in 2016! Also, much of the time, game exists in marginal areas, semi deserts unfit for land use. What are the locals to do? Its wayyyyy past time to rethink our entire wildlife philosophy.

Whites still earning three times more than blacks in SA

Whites in South Africa earned three times more than blacks on average, two decades after the demise of apartheid, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.

In a report touching on the highly sensitive issue of inequality, research found that the wage gap between South Africa's groups increased between 2011 and 2015.

It said the average monthly earning among blacks - who account for 80% of the population - was R6 899, while the figure was R24 646 for whites.

Income earnings in South Africa remained "heavily racialised," the statistics authority said.

It added that women earned roughly 30% less on average than males.

Africa's most industrialised nation has struggled to bridge the gap between racial and gender groups since the fall of apartheid in 1994.

For decades, the apartheid system legally divided South Africans into groups of whites, blacks, Indians and "coloureds," a term designating people of mixed race.

The report did not compare wage inequality between 2015 and today.

The issue is deeply controversial, touching on issues such as inherited capital and access to quality education.

South Africa remains one of the most unequal societies in the world, despite interventions that include a new national minimum wage bill which came into effect in January.

The new report was compiled by Statistics SA, the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit and the Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD).

"Black Africans are generally more vulnerable to labour markets and unemployment is high among that population group," Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke told local radio station 702 after he released the report.

Black Africans make up the bulk of the country's jobless at over 46% with just under 10% of whites facing unemployment.

The report, which also studied poverty trends, concluded that households headed by blacks and "coloureds" were "chronically" poor.

Blacks also had the lowest levels of access to the internet and health insurance coverage.
