Actually it does...

Good football is foundational. If Ferguson was sacked within 2 years, United would never have attained that height under him.

Same for Ajax, Milan, and Leipzig in recent times. Some times, you just wait it out, but not more than 3 seasons. grin

United has actually improved massively under Olé... Only an ingrate and a plastic fan will want coaches sacked yearly or perennially for team's dip in form.

At some point, you are more than likely to run out of good coaches to hire and fire.
Football has changed. It is foundational at an amateur level or at a non-competitive clubside.

At the amateur level, you can speak about time. Which club in the big leagues will give you that ample amount of time. None.

Even in the early 2000s, the Del Bosques, and now Tuchels were sacked for not winning the "right" trophies.

It is either the team stays very competitive or win big.

Simeone has been at Atletico and survived even with the 2 big guns stifling them. Yet, everyone knows Atletico, irrespective their tight purse have stayed competitive or won big.

Nagelsmann took his team to their first UCL some seasons ago and finished second or third in the league, and have stayed very competitive.

Pioli has been in Milan barely two years.

You must deliver. A lot of money is into football these days, that it has become much more dynamic. More pressure, fluidity and little time.

This isn't the era of the Cruyffs, Sacchis, Fergusons, Wengers or Robsons...those were times of foundational football, Not NOW.

Even Ferguson won about 7 trophies, including a Cup Winners' Cup, then went on to manage the Scottish team before he was appointed United's Manager.

There are certain clubs that can never be patient with you....because of what has been ingrained in them for a long time. United might continue to manage Ole because it wants to be patient as he learns on the job......A City or Real Madrid or Barcelona or PSG or Chelsea manager will not get that kind of luxury.

United's resurgence has been a combination of factors, especially in a crazy COVID-19 season. I am not too optimistic as we saw it during this time last year. The assessment will be at the end of season....

Mind you, he hasn't won any trophies, neither has he been in any final in two-and-half years...we will be watching him.

In football, nobody remembers who came second.

They are playing better as a team now, but nothing special at all.

Let's be honest, Spurs didn't turn up last night!
that was because Chelsea out played Spurs.

You have made exceptionally sound points my friend... I agree completely with most of it.

However, we must be honest with ourselves here! The top is already congested, and major trophies extremely limited. No matter what or how well improved all top teams become, only a handful will clinch titles. FACTS!!!

Judging a coach now based on the titles won will not really be realistic. I can agree that consistently improved form, competitiveness, staying at the top, and going the distance in major trophy pursuits must be settled.

As it stands for United, the quality of their football is improving astronomically under Ole compared to all coaches since Fergie left... With one or two more additions and tweaks, the team will stay at the top for many years to come.

That is the way modern football works sir.

You are not being completely honest sir.

I know you are a fan, but let the truth be said! The Spurs we both know would not have played that nonsense of yesterday.

I am not trying to belittle the good work Tuchel has begun, but we both know Chelsea is no where near the quality of the top 4 teams even based on what they played last night, except we are watching 2 different EPL campaigns.

Spurs didn't even rise up to the occasion at all! They literally strolled around the pitch from beginning till the final whistle. It was shocking, disgraceful and embarrassing! Leeds United, West Ham and Brighton would not play such rubbish!

Chelsea and Tuchel's true tests are yet to come... When they do, I would love to see the real difference! Fortunately, Atletico Madrid is around the corner! grin

Your submission is biased, saying Chelsea is no where near the quality of the top 4 is erroneous.
man for man, squad for squad, Chelsea has one of the best squad in Europe not only the league.

Spurs were woeful yesterday agreed. But don't forget Lampard went more than 13 games unbeaten. Form, motivation and tactics play key role. But to say Chelsea don't have top 4 quality is false.

prior to yesterday's match, Chelsea were yet to defeat a top side but they did so comfortably last night.

It is still early days as you rightly said and I'll refer to your post in subsequent matches.

Man U haven't won a top side in the EPL this season, can we also say they do not have top 4 quality. the answer is NO!

let's differentiate facts from sentiments and hate.

man united couldn't qualify for the round of 16. are they also qualified to dine with kings?

or does being in top 4 temporarily qualify you as royalty?

You're just pained Chelsea won.

I wonder what will be your bench mark when Chelsea defeats Atletico Madrid

I like the fact that your post is well written. It points to the fact that you are well lettered.

So, I expect you to be able to clearly see that I have no hate whatsoever for Chelsea! Honestly, I am quite neutral when it comes to EPL matters, especially since I support a lowly Leeds United.

I am obviously talking without sentiments about the present and recent situation of things in this beloved league. Chelsea is completely outside the elite circle! This is unarguable. I hope and pray they bounce back in as the campaign climaxes. I like serious competition at the very top.... This is why I find Spurs' recent run of form quite dismal, distasteful and unappealing.

We must face facts (fans or not)! Chelsea is slowly returning to form, but not quite there! I would hold out on hyping and celebrating for now if I were a hardcore fan... I have watched Tuchel's team games, and they are still quite short with regards to attack, though well improved defensively.

I haven't written them off, as the new coach just took over, and hasn't lost any game yet. I merely stated my clear observation about last night's game.: Spurs played nothing, yet Chelsea failed to decisively run them off the pitch.

This is why I said wait till Chelsea truly smashes a great opposition. Atletico will be a true and worthy opponent!

Nope! I am quite happy Chelsea won as I predicted that The Special One will experience a third consecutive defeat for the first time in his enviable career. grin

My sole pain was that the game failed to live up to expectations considering the hype around it, and the immense quality of both teams.

Hope you clearly see the distinction sir??!

By elite circle you mean the top 4 right?
Need I remind you that Leicester were in the top 4 for majority of last season, They ended the season in 5th place. Everton and Tottenham started the season on fire where are they now?

we will judge holistically who the Elites are at the end of the season.

By the way, I took exception to ' Chelsea are not a top 4 quality team'. that is not true if you're being honest.

Chelsea are not there yet seeing that a new coach just took charge coupled with a new style of football. it will take time to stick. But there is no denying they're on the right track.

Man city were winning 1-0 a lot at a point, now they're winning convincingly. I bet you didn't set a bench mark for them or say they have to beat a great opposition first.

it's all good, we are all entitled to our opinion.
