Eboh should have consulted me when editing this video, the project is 100% being funded by Anambra state government, they're many misinformation on that clip

these vloggers sef! I am underwhelmed by this coverage..........eboh stick to video coverage and leave voice-over and scripting to someone else!

why mix video clips from other construction sites with the new airport construction.

Watching the clip, a couple of things jump out at you.

Onitsha is well planned and, but for gov't (esp' local gov't), the city could have been one of the best organised and thriving commercial cities in West Africa.

Also, i noticed the gutters (right from Upper Iweka express to Awka road and other inner roads) were almost overflowing with dirt and sediment. Remember about two or three years ago, when the Obiano gov't was clearing gutters caked with decades old dirt in Onitsha, and some were making a song and dance about it? Though at the time i also saw this as commendable, i also had my reservations because this ordinarily was a job the local gov't should have been doing as routine: clean gutters say every fortnight, and sweep market places every evening after close of market! I knew the Obiano gov't effort wasn't sustainable and would have rather preferred the state gov't knock a few heads together and get the local gov'ts (LGs) responsible to do their fucking jobs! The present situation of the gutters in the city have vindicated my position at the time! All these useless LG authorities seem to know how to do is to harass individuals and businesses for levies and taxes of all sorts.

The traffic lights are working, which is nice to see. However, i noticed some were ignored by motorists like they weren't even there....esp' around DMGS roundabaout.

Besides these few observed lapses, the city is ok.

Onitsha is what happens when you allow the small man total freedom. Everything smacks chaos and lawlessness. Just look at how buses load on the side of roads, Keke everywhere, wheel barrows everywhere. Side shops, hawkers. Onitsha is disappointing in that as a city it offers the opportunity of scale but then wastes it by failing to scale. It is like Lagos Island without the big companies and businesses. Primitive markets everywhere.

The next government needs to bring order to markets and transport in the state. They have to put an end to anybody just buying a shuttle or keke and plying the road looking for passengers. Intercity transport should be run by government with routes and scheduling. Bus terminals need to be built for inter and intra state bus movement.

Markets need to look like real wholesale markets with enough parking, conveniences and modern facades not 100s of unpainted shops littering a place.

The major roads of cities should be decongested from primitive retail. Onitsha downtown harbors the very ugly Ochanja which should have been relocated just like Zik Avenue in Awka with the ugly Eke Awka market.

You can't expect the Governor to micro-manage Onitsha, that place needs a Mayor.

There is no constitutional provision for Mayor. The Obiano government started well by creating the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency but then did little to staff it or even fund it. I said a long time ago that you need Development Boards or Agencies to manage major cities from which all key projects should be run - Transport, environment, sanitation, roads, water, healthcare. Staff them with qualified people to get around a lot of the incompetent civil servants that have entrenched themselvves in the ministries of works, health, transport, etc. With them you could even get experts from development agencies (UN, world bank, etc.) to work there funded by external orgs.

Project-driven Agencies are well known to be far more effective than the morass that is state civil service.

Even as a commercial/industrial hub of SE, Onitsha is beautiful, organized and clean. Good job eboh media.

What is remotely wrong with what he said? Onitsha from the video is very disorganized. Infact onitsha is dirty. How can one still find a way of twisting the truth. I don’t seem to understand.

This is true. If there will be any serious facelift in this city, many buildings will go down. Onitsha is an epitome of buy land and build. The structures don’t align with each and the people refused to paint. The roads are dirty, even the tarred roads. It’s a serious problem judging from the fact that the world has moved far ahead of this chaos.

There's everything in all he said. Onitsha from the video is very organized, well paved roads, neat roads and environment. How can someone be turning reality up side down just to score useless point. Stop being silly

Do you see road around you? Those roads are dirty. If we try to protect ourselves from outsiders, you should know that we can’t lie to ourselves. These roads need redesign. These are not the roads we see around the world now. You can say the state doesn’t have the funds but don’t say it’s not dirty. I can take you around my city and you will see what a neat city is all about.

Stop covering dirt with white clothes.

I watched this same video, where are the dirt ? Maybe you watched a different video altogether. Onitsha is a beautiful organised planned city. From the video, Onitsha is a very neat city despite being a commercial/industrial city.

Guy man, stop the famzing. You are not paying anyone money here. I am an Anambra man but have seen better things in this life. When you get to a certain age, you start telling yourself the truth. Anambra and southeast need extra funds to bring the states up to the level it’s supposed to be operating in.

We were having a meeting about southeast in clubhouse some days ago, everyone in diasporas keep saying we need to do more for our people. Bring skills and investment home. There are quite a number of things lacking in our region and just showering praise without seeing the grey areas will only let us keep moving in circles.

We all understand there are no funds but we still need that basic human decency to keep our environment clean.

I watch this same video of Onitsha and I score the city 8/10 in good roads, neat environment, etc. Stop being silly. The video I watched showed a clean beautiful city with decent road networks. Onitsha even as a commercial/industrial city is neat. Even New York is not 100% clean, not to talk of even Abuja.

[s][/s]

You guys are used to your back and forth. I will have to stop here. Someone who understands environment will bring this city back to top tier. Then I will come and let you see the difference. But for now, enjoy what you are seeing.

Guy man stop spewing nonsense. So I should believe your state of origin because you said it. Now you have moved your goal post to SE. Stop talking nonsense mister man. Choose any other region in Nigeria and go there to nationalise. Onitsha from this same video is beautiful, well paved roads and clean.

[s][/s]

If you talk this kind thing to me in my presence, I would have done something nasty to you. Do you see me commenting here often? Why do I need to explain my state to you? Just because I stated that onitsha need more work to be done on its environment, I now sound like your internet troll? What’s even remotely wrong with you? I acknowledged that it’s due to funding that’s making the city look like this and there’s room for development but all you see is internet troll? Have you checked my previous posts if I troll here?

What you need to understand is that not everyone will celebrate mediocrity. I don’t even stay in Nigeria. I am here to give my constructive criticism and if you like don’t take it. But don’t even question my state. That’s my heritage.

You are still repeating the same trash. You understands environment and you are only on nairaland, while others are in Harvard and Silicon valley. Stop deceiving yourself. Clown

[s][/s]

Bro, I only did my undergraduate in Nigeria and my masters in Europe. I had one of the best education in engineering and data analysis. Still practicing as we speak. I only come into Nairaland for information about Anambra state and igbo land. We were scheduled to have a meeting about the region on a platform and I came to see what’s happening.
I am not here to spread hate and I have not attacked you all these times. Just know that even if I commend some of the projects done in Anambra state but I still reserve the right to castigate the bad ones. So if you like cancel my comments, it doesn’t negate the fact.

Stupid idiot, tell me where you are and I will come to your house and say it to your dirty ugly face. You are talking nonsense, this is same nonsense you go about spewing about Nigeria. If you are tired of Nigeria, leave the country or take a hike.

You are giving constructive advice but you are not able to advise yourself, instead you are still miserable and useless nairaland troll. Use your so called ideas to show us example on your own life.

Useless miscreants coming online to claim what they are not.

[s][/s]

Don’t worry, I am not in the country. I will come back this year for my wedding. By then, you can tell me where you are in Anambra and you can raise your chest while I show you my home in the state. After then I can slap your face.

Another stupid talk. You have the best education Bla Bla bla. Is it on nairaland that people with such education from Europe and America are found? Are you not supposed to be somewhere in Havard or top Nigerian universities imparting the same knowledge you claimed to have gotten? Why is it that empty useless frustrated people always claim what they are not, thinking that we shall all fall for their lies. My friend shut up, you know nothing. You are just a lousy noisemaker.

Nairaland is a forum where various conversations about Nigeria are seen. I was in Nairaland for a long time before leaving the country. Nairaland also serves as a local content for information for us diaspora. I used to comment on various issues pre-2015 before I left here. What you need to understand is that not everyone will be in the US ( I don’t seem to like there though) but some of us are doing well in our respective countries too.

The conversation about impacting is one of the present conversations we are having. Thinking of process of creating an opportunity for more Igbos who are into tech and stem to be able to leave the country and get better knowledge. We are still in the conversation on how to bring materials down to the east to push younger generation to be tech savvy before their university days. I came here to get info from the thread and you came here attacking everyone like a watchdog.
