Obiano Shuts Nnewi Spare Parts Market Over Non-Compliance With COVID-19 by References(op): 5:54pm On Feb 06, 2021
Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has ordered that the Agbaedo Nnewi New Motor Spare Parts Market be closed for one week.

This was contained in a press release signed by the commissioner for trade and commerce, Mr Uchenna Okafor, Which was made available to DAILY POST on Saturday.

The release stated that Obiano ordered the closure of the market for one week, following the disregard for the COVID-19 safety protocol by both traders and customers in the market.

Obiano also requested that the officials of the market appear before the commissioner for health, Dr Vincent Okpala for retraining and recertification, within the period of the closure.

Part of the release read, “Following the non-compliance to the COVID-19 safety protocols by the Agbaedo new motor spare parts market, Nnewi, His Excellency the executive governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has ordered for the closure of the market.”

Anambra State has recently been posting high COVID-19 positive cases. The governor has as a result of this imposed a nine hours curfew on the state, which begins on Monday.

9 hours curfew? Smh.

The fear of covid-19 is not as intense as it was when it first landed in Nigeria. People see it more as a scam.

Mr. Governor, open the market. Nobody Don fall die for the market because of covid-19.

BTW, Kogi state is still having 5cases. Doesn't it mean that the vaccine we looking for is a place and not a medication?

It's insensible for any state or part in nigeria to use another lockdown tactic as a way of preventing the spread of covid-19.

States learning from the dictatorship in the federal government. It's all about bans. And no solutions or progressive thinking.

How about they ban corruption, terrorism, bandits, killer herdsmen, police brutality & extortion and, poor ASUU strikes poor healthcare and institutionalised nepotism? Would be nice

You are asking a very big request.
These things cannot happen fast. These things are all part of culture now. In the olden days, they weren't prevalent because the majority of Nigerians were uneducated and lived in villages, managing their farms and business.
Today, majority are educated, left the villages, live in cities and the infrastructure is not sufficient to support the massive population. Hence people turn to all kinds of stealing and corruption to achieve their goals.
How do you suppose we end that?
Push educated people away from the cities back into villages so that the city can be less congested?
How will the educated people survive in the villages with no light and no drinking water?
Well, my own proposal,
1. everybody learn how to dig well with hand, or shovel
2. learn now to make a mechanical water pump,
3. learn some basic plumbing
4. Carry yourself to a village and use them, then continue to build and fabricate other elements for development
... because it will take forever for government to ever setup infrastructure for anybody.
