tasalanoni:I went to the auction last month (late though). See folks with bags of cash buying peoples cars while the owners were out bided. The lesson learnt is that the choice is yours, follow one way and lose your car to the highest bidder right before your korokoro eyes. Afterall a man's loss is another man's gain. Dont follow one way and non of this happens to you. My paddy who is an expert on one way is the best behaved driver now after he almost lost his expensive car following one way. An army general had to be involved upor all that my guy still spent 30k! Omo he behaves well now. Note also you are buying the car from the court as it is no longer owned by anybody. |

I don't know why all these empethy, do you know how bad it is to drive one way? Do you know the damages driving against traffic can cause? You drive one way and end up killing someoi child, how will you feel? How would you feel if it's your child that is killed. In some countries, driving against traffic, you can be charged with attempted man slaughter. Do the right thing and you wouldn't have to think of people driving your car. Better still, do you guys know that many of you here that think you just purchased a direct tokunbo car is actually purchasing an auctioned car? |

jaxxy:Mr. Regret, na today? Nigerians are the most unruly, emotionally idiotic and stupid people on planet Earth. If that's what the Lagos State government will use to correct that stupidity, it is a very good move. Nigerians do in their country what they cannot imagine doing elsewhere in the world Country of animals; yeye dey smell! |

SmartPolician:Mr correctioner go back and read my modified post. I support law and order 100% bt a government must produce an environment to sustain and carry out law and order also ![]() Don't talk Nonesense. With the state of the roads lagos state has no right to seize and auction a single car. ![]() |

Activists won't say anything on this now. let it be on senseless matters , You will see them shouting . This is pure wickedness. Let the auction panel swear with sango/Ogun if they've never followed one way traffic. |

lapazi:When did the bus follow one way? because everyone has had to follow one way on 3rd mainland at some point due to the diversion cos of on going maintainance. Bt if it was on a road thst had not excuse for such one way driving offcourse hold them bt u can't still auction anyone's vehicles unless the gravity of the crime is really serious to warrant that. So tell me what gives such an irresponsible government such audacity?? Can u imagine the state of bad roads in lagos?? It has never been so bad and getting worse. I have never seen such Irresponsiblity. There is no excuse for bad roads Also!!!! What is their excuse for not fixing certain major roads for over a year and some inner network roads for even more than 3/5years. ![]() |

SmartPolician:Power comes with responsibility. A government cannot act Irresponsiblity and demand responsibility from citizens. Now for law and order sake people must yet comply to set laws bt who gives u the audacity to seize and auction anyone's property?? Well Nigerians can be stupid and docile. U can't do this abroad. U will have to have got several warnings b4 such and the government is even more responsible than the nuisance we have here. They will continue to abuse and trample upon ur rights untill u wake up and realise ure a humanbeing not an animal in the zoo. Can u imagine the state of bad roads in lagos?? It has never been so bad and getting worse. I have never seen such Irresponsiblity. |

This is wrong for christ sake. Why sell people's hard work and sweat. Before you work in Nigeria to the point where you can afford to buy a car, your fingers would have felt it. Yet some wicked people will sieze that car from you, give you a short time to pay an heavy fine that you didnt budget before. Then before you know it, they sell your car right in your presence! It's unfair! |
| Re: Lagos State Auctions 83 Vehicles Impounded From Traffic Offenders by tasalanoni(m): 6:38am On Feb 09, 2021 |
nedekid:Bro, I strongly believe that lawfulness is what makes any sane society and I understand you feel measures like this acts as a deterrent to traffic offenders but in every sense of justice, this is too draconian, In saner societies, there's always a way to handle issues like without inflicting heavy psychological pains to an offender. What about heavy fines? What about seizures lasting a couple days or even weeks especially for commercial vehicles? Paying a huge fine say 20-50k serves a lifetime to deter anyone from violating traffic anywhere. Same goes for keeping a commercial vehicle in custody for weeks and putting a temporal halt to one's means of livelihood. This is satanic and no explanation justifies it. |

nedekid:Are roads even properly marked in Nigeria? Lagos has the most one way roads in Nigeria, and if you are a visitor from out of town, you won't know most of them. |

[quote author=obiekunie2 post=98882411]see how we in the south so hate ourselves. for traffic offense that should attract not more than 10k, YOU SOLD OFF ANOTHER MAN'S SWEAT. AND ON TOP OF THAT, YOU ARRANGE YOUR CRONIES TO BE IN A GOOD POSITION TO WIN THE BIDS. A DAY OF RECKONING WILL SURELY COME - JUST ONE DAY, THESE POLITICIANS WILL REALIZE TOO LATE THAT THEY ARE NOT ABOVE THE MASSES. [/quote Not more than 10k? Do you know how many people's lives you out at risk when you take one way? I support selling the vehicle and jail term. |

Auction is not enough, they should also make them go to jail, how can a normal human take one way hence putting several lives at risk. |

Why would anyone want to do the one way if the roads are free from traffic. I think a Justice like this should be served when the government have played their roles efficiently. (Good roads, traffic free and a reasonable transportation system). This news may not make much meaning to those that doesn't have a car. Please, drive safely this morning and stay off one way. God bless you all. |
