The accepted threshold to become developed is 12k usd per capita although most consider 20k to be the cutoff.South Africa gdp per capita at best is 5k...borderline nearly low middle class..this year with COVID they down to around 4500usd..threshold is 4000usd to 12000usd to be upper middle income. They should worry more about dropping to low middle income
please dude grin grin no more gdp calculations from you grin grin grin

FYI SAs gdp ppp per capita is over 13000 wink

Look here idio.t. Nobody uses GDP ppp outside their country. It's used for internal purposes. The classification of countries into LDC, LMI, UMI and Developed countries is based on NOMINAL GDP.

To become developed - you need to cross 12,500 usd - at least by world bank - although many consider even higher figures.

South Africa has no hope - given it's gdp per capita - (again keep the PPP for your own internal use) - is 4,500 now - just 500 dollars - before World Bank/Imf/ everyone declares you a LOW MIDDLE INCOME country.

You're obtuse..I don't calculate gdp..its south Africa statistics body that does.Rand weakness plus low productivity has seen your nominal gdp shrink in 10yrs from 450 to 280B..now just 3 times larger than Kenya.Your economy is doing badly and its reflected in rand depreciation
I'm pretty sure SAs GDP Nominal is still 350 billion bro wink..... And the highest its ever been was 416.

Please indulge me how you calculated 280 billion grin grin grin
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 7:02am On Feb 09, 2021
This year (2020) I have seen 280B estimates. It's about time we get final figures from South African statistic body - they must be crunching the last Q.

I don't calculate - it's only SA stats body that does that - the rest of us can only estimate based on figures we see

No one will understand this video unless you're a kenyan or an outsider with deep understanding of kenya state of dynamic.

This is just another upcoming city at two rivers and nearly all the buldings you'll see on Renders are completed and some under construction .

Nice - with Ruaka developing into high rises - that area could form a new business district/city.

It's already transforming into a city of its own kind. it won't be massive though but just a weeny smart city with high end lifestyles with world class facilities ~talk of modern apartments, hotels etc.

You see this is why you really shouldn't speak on things you know nothing about!! You just spewing garbage that you simply suck out your thumb!!

Firstly GDP ppp was formulated as to give a fair and more accurate comparison of GDP.........its never intended for "internal" use or what ever dumb sh1t you are referring to.

Where did you get 350B - which is 2019 level - you mean all that contraction and rand depreciation - is nothing to you.

Your economy is expected to contract by jaw dropping 8% - that alone will take out nearly 30-40B out of 2019 figures.

Now add rand depreciation - economic contraction of - 8% + rand depreciation - and you will get South Africa nominal gpd for 2020.

Let me ignore the trash you're posting. Focus on those pictures. You cannot use GDP ppp when threshold is for NOMINAL GDP.

Yes gdp ppp is an attempt to get something equivalent to the dollar - but obviously it has it weakness - and therefore is not accepted.

Nominal gdp is therefore the gold standard here. Obviously there is some use for GDP PPP - for example for internal stuff like tracking poverty etc.

the WB.....

Also: the South African economy is set to grow by 4% in 2021....

Also: "Gross domestic product (GDP) grew by an estimated 13,5% in the third quarter, giving an annualised growth rate of 66,1%.1 This follows the significant slump of 16,6% (annualised: -51,7%) in the second quarter during the most restrictive months of the lockdown (April, May and June)."

Soweto is developed better than most of your towns and cities
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 9:07am On Feb 09, 2021
Very much doubt. That is like 200km square of low lying slum. That is huge. And no whiteman stay there.

For example - Nairobi - at the very bottom- illegal slums dwelling/shanties - occupy about 5% of built up area- and combined host less than 1m people in Nairobi.

Next is Eastland (Soweto like) - this one host 60% of Nairobi -low middle and some middle class estates- It's better than Soweto - they are high rises - and not sprawling slumpolis like Soweto.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sDvFOmus8o

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzhMtGkrEdM&t=5s

Then west of Nairobi are middle and upper class - that occupy more than half of Nairobi landmass...basically running from the north (Garden estate) to the south (karen)
