They make a good point about the cost however what are we going to do about the elected officials who were recently voted in or those about to finish?

And how will we manage the security situation, give the people enough time to pick a suitable candidate when the airwaves will be filled with adverts for those with the most money?

Yes oh..... This is a good development...
Good Development huh Even with different days for election, INEC is still having problem.
The parties are worried about sharing money twice, when they share it once and get the same result

Having the election in one day is seriously impractical because of the logistics involved in counting them all three times over.

Okay...All elections should be rigged in a day.

But it doesn't actually address the issue. For example Obaseki was voted in last year and the presidential election was held in 2019, will Obaseki's tenure be cut short or extended to accommodate this?

It sounds nice on paper but I'm struggling to understand how this would work without causing civil uproar.

The work load will be too much on that day, the least they can do is to hold all lawmakers election the same day(House of Assembly, house of Reps and Senate) and Governorship and presidential another day

GREAT idea (one that I have myself suggested numerous times).
Same polling stations, same officials, same logistics, just modified ballot papers.

The only ‘justification’ for the multiple-week elections is CORRUPTION.
It allows more opportunities to steal/share money, bribe officials and steal elections.

WHY? Americans, Indians and others do it.
It’s the same poll units, personnel, etc. Simply add more columns to the ballot papers.

EVERY democratic country has by-elections.
It does not undermine the sensibility of holding ONE general election.

For example, the US has ONE general election on ONE day every 4 years on the first Tuesday of November.
Yet they hold by-elections every time a Senate, House or gubernatorial position becomes vacant (as well as mid-terms).

This makes sense.
And thank God we have a President that will never do magomago in any election in our country.
A man different from the rest.

Memory lane........
Elections In Nigeria now,
There is no need to fear.
Why? Because the will of Nigerians will not be subverted. Never! A President once told us in this country that the coming polls would be do or die.
Not with President Buhari.
Fair is fair.
No foul play.

God bless our handsome Darling Daddy.

No. Not everything is done on the same day in America. Senate elections, for example, vary based on when you were elected. The smart thing to do would be to hold all state governor elections two years before federal elections. For instance, if we elect a president in 2023, governors will be elected 2025. This would save time and reduce tensions

We do respect your political affiliation brotherly, just as we respect everyone else's political support here (even if they fail to respect ours!)

That being said, Good development is about voting for good, honest men and women into the major political positions in our land, it's not really voting for political parties or a particular political party.
That has been one thing that has been holding us down as a nation since Independence.

We remembered in the last 2 elections all of us @ voted for our darling Daddy and his amiable Vice president in their party, voted for another good man as Governor in another party in our state of residence and still went ahead to cast our votes for other men and women that we considered as good and honest people in other parties in the senate, LG Chairman and Councilorship elections, most of them won and some lost.

If Nigerians have this kinda mentality, our country gonna move forward faster as a nation.
A time we need to vote men and women that know their jobs and are out to truly serve the people rather than voting in people, just cause of the party they are in.
That is why non of us @ will ever be a card-carrying member of any political party.
We will always meet at the polls on election day.

We still respect your opinion tho.
And thanks for the mention @the other thread.
Keep more of such coming ChelseaArmy.
God bless you.
God bless Nigeria.

We Rise!

Asides that, conducting all elections in one day would help to reduce rigging caused by presidential influence.
In Nigeria the person and party that wins the presidency which is conducted first has enormous influence on the other elections which would otherwise won't av been so if all elections were held same day.
My own proposal is this:
(1)The law should be amended that all national and state elections be held same day;viz presidency, governorship,Senate,Reps and state assemblies. This is just 5 ballot papers. In some democracies there are sometimes 10 or 20 items one has to vote on in a single election day.
(2)Let INEC be attended the responsibility of conducting all LG elections. Each LG chairman/councillor tenure should be for 4 years too, renewable for up to 2 terms too. However, the LG elections should be arranged in such a way that it falls midway between the national elections. It becomes more like a midterm nationwide election and an indirect way of judging the national government's performance.

Corrupt/bad elections result in the emergence of corrupt/bad officeholders.
