Ghana inner cities have lots of dualized roads, maybe you are referring to our inter regional roads but not inner cities lol

Man, not only that highway, and it doesn't matter the number of cars that use that road, every major highway in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda is single track road, like in Nigeria, every highways are dualized, both inner city roads are being dualized, but that's not the case in Kenya.

Nearly all highways found in cities and big towns in Kenya are dualized. even a town like kakamega has dual highway.

I don't understand where you're getting this narrative that "we-east Africans don't dualize highways".

As far as we believe in two way roads, we've also seen cases where safety standards have been compromised and that's when dualling can take shape to counter such risks.

For instance, the salgaa section in Mombasa -Malaba highway have been dualized due to increased cases of accidents.

Kenya road quality is very high - including murram all weather roads. We spend a lot to maintain our roads. Don't rush to build dual road then allow trucks weighing 70 tonnes to fry the road into potholes. It's even better to have murram roads.

So all our highways are in top notch while we have weigh bridges to check to make sure they stay in that weigh.

The fact that Kenya keep load weight at 70 tonnes does not mean everyone should choose same limit. our world class roads remain in tact.

I was actually talking about Nigeria but I have seen your roads; they are the same with Ghana.

In kenya we strictly allow max tonnage of 48 tonnes - Gross Weight - and we strictly enforce the laws.

That our roads are not completely broken down like Ghana.

Could be I got him wrong, thought he was talking of inter city roads - roads connecting cities and towns; not intracity. Kenyan and east African cities also dualize city roads for very obvious reasons. The reason countries don't dualize remote roads is because there is no value for money. No point building dual when only three cars use the road per day. There are regions where even a single lane tarmac road is pointless because there is no human activity. Nigeria is different because all regions of the country are heavily populated which means even traffic between cities is huge. Has nothing to do with quality though. Kenya still has better quality of roads than both I think. We are only outdone by SA here for countries in the thread. Is that not true my friend?

This metric is underated yet crucial like cement usage-it can't be faked! an interesting read-you can see how RSA steel use fell 10% in 2010. The massive stadium building projects for the WC were completed so ofc steel use fell accordingly.
